I had to send my PS3 in for repairs about a year and three months ago because the Blu-ray drive stopped working. Took 1 and a half weeks and they just sent me a new console. If they do repair it they'll use new it'd be a bit pointless replacing broken parts with used parts.

They sent me a new console. They will probably do the same for you. If you dont want that perhaps you can try asking them to repair it instead of a new one

If you send your system in for the ylod the send you a refurbished unit with a new outer shell. They fix your system and give it to another guy. The only thing that sucks about that is that you lose all your game saves, I sent mine in a few hours ago.

I sent my 80GB because there was something wrong with the thermometer or something that read the tempetature of the PS3 so the fan would work properly. (Mine was going haywire)

I sent the thing and got a brand new one.

I've got a 60GB console which I had to send in for repairs they just sent me a new 60GB console, so don't worry you should get a 60GB model back if they replace it with a new one.

Just stick your game saves on a USB or External hard drive. If you don't have either or nothing big enough, transfer them to your PC.
