If you want to play little mini games, just for casual fun, then the IPod is for you. But for a more serious gaming experience, the PSP is much more worthwhile. Yes, the PSP can download games from any hotspot, but you need access the Playstation store by making an account, and pay for games either with a credit card or buy Playstation Network cards.

Depends. What do you wanna do with it? For gaming, PSP is definitely the better choice. It plays music and videos, has got internet browser and RSS feed, as well. Besides, it's got all types of games, hardcore and casual. Aimed for adults and kids (in case you wanna have your children play around with it). iPod on the other hand has all these apps and is the superior media player/internet browser and has got some not-so-serious games too. If you want something for gaming, go for PSP. If you want something that does a lot of stuff including some casual gaming, go for iPod.

yes. the PSP connects to the playstation store using wifi. the games are not nearly as cheap as the ipod games, but the psp is MUCH cheaper to initially buy. You should be able to get a used psp2000 for about $100. Memorysticks are roughly $20 (used on amazon.com, 4GB or 8GB is good). Games for the psp cost $39.99 brand new often, but there are games that are like 9.99 on the playstation store. and there are games called "minis" that are sometimes almost as cheap as Ipod games.

Time has to be taken into account too. The PSP games have more depth so they require you to play them for at least 10-30 minutes (RPGs require more since the whole point f them is to immerse yourself into them). Even fast paced old-school action games like space invaders extreme requires you to pay attention for at least 5 minutes in the earlier stages.

You don't even need a credit card to buy games on the psp and ipod touch. It's nice that they sell the cards everywhere.
