I do believe there are fake Sandisk sticks too.
However, not all fakes appear to be bad. I have a fake 2GB Sony stick that I've now used for a little over a year without a problem. I know the capacity of the fake sticks can vary greatly. Mine is 1939MB which seems quite normal. I've heard about other people with fake 2GB sticks with much less capacity. Luck of the draw.
Unless you're buying from a legitimate storefront, you're going to be gambling a bit.
A guide to distinguish genuine & fake memory sticks
[QUOTE="WWE6d9"]Whats trhe differnce if real and fake sicks of the fakes work :S hockey73
im not sure i understand you question, but the difference between fakes and reals, are that fakes tend to work but have alot less capacity/memory then they should.
They also sometimes stop working after 2 weeks or so.Whats trhe differnce if real and fake sicks of the fakes work :S WWE6d9Fakes don't support Magic Gate Encription, when you check the memory card status on the PSP the fakes will say Magic Gate unkown while the real ones will say Magic Gate. PLus the fakes corrput data all the time, this happens for videos files and game files. I played Final Fantasy on a fake card and for some reason my stats would change in between saves and battles randomly.
BTW.. i got my 4gb for 49 bucks with shipping and handling combined. :DArsarabies22The real ones only cost 60 dollars now. It supports Magic Gate and has fast read and write and won't corrput data. Fakes aren't worth it you only save about 10 dollars, plus the real ones have lifetime warranty from Sony. I dropped mine real 4gb in some water and Sony replaced it in days.
