Alright, so this is basically a rant, but it's just so annoying. Here's my story:

Last week, I played against this guy whose PSN username is Clermos. I beat him handily in our ranked (scoreboard) match, and we then happened to have been matched up for a second fight. I was half one second away from winning, and right before the final blow, he quits. I can tell that he quit because he stood still for the last hit, the end-of-round announcer got cut off, and I got the message that the player quit, blah blah. :x

So I sent him a message simpling saying "quitter?" He responds and says, with his typo left in, "yeah against noob who use hoda and blanka."

That's hilarious, isn't it? I've been playing SF2 for 15+ years now. And I'm not sure which is worse: him quitting cause he got beat, or him having to quit cause he's getting whacked by someone who he thinks is a noob. Arrrggh!!!

But that's not the end. To my amusement, I got matched up with him tonight again the same thing happens. Right before the final blow that would have ended the match, he quits again!!!!!! So I sent him another message and said "face up to the fact that you suck instead of quitting" and then I proceeded to block him cause I was pretty miffed. Yeah, I get a little worked up playing SF:D

Anyways, thanks for reading. Again, his username is Clermos, so please, if you see him, give him a good whipping for me. Then after he quits, send him a message telling him he stinks like poopoo. Or maybe you can let him beat you, and then quit right before he kills you off.

Okay, thanks again for reading. Please feel free to share your HD Remix rants about quitters!

Edited for a nicer tone :)

I agree that quitters are lame, but your chest thumping isn't any better. It's not like we're all going to rush to our PS3's to block that guy.

I wish you could watch other people's matches while you're waiting your turn.

You're right, I should have shown more class there. But man, losing is part of the game, and some people just don't understand it.

As for watching other people's matches, it's possible but only in friendly matches. It's actually pretty fun if you can line up a couple of players. It feels like the old days lining up at the arcade.

That's why I dislike online play and love playing in the arcade so much.

In person, when you lose, you're mature about it. You take it in stride, congratulate the winner, and strive to be better. If you win, you're humble and you can help give tips or advice. No cheating or quiting or boo-hooing, just competitive fun.

I'm not a great SF player but when I do play someone who I know is much better than me(I've often played a guy who is currently the best Dudley player in the world), I get my face smashed in but I use it as an opportunity to learn, become smarter, and more strategical about my game.

Obviously not everyone feels the same and it'll get quite a bit worse online when the new MadKats controllers, complete with turbo buttons, are released.

I don't have the game and I admit I'm just here to read for humor, but I think the general population of gamers out there really needs to learn some manners and respect both other gamers and the game they're playing. I mean, in the end its just a game, if you suck and feel frustrated about it, just play more. In professional starcraft it is a tradition for the player who realizes he is in the condition of not being able to turn the game around to say GG and leave the round peacefully, its just a sign of respect for both game and the person you're playing, but to the point the game have developed up till now if a person doesn't type GG he is considered extremely rude and extremely disrespectful. I know that games are being played by people of all ages, but seriously you can always learn to be polite despite wherever you are.

When I used to play mgo I used to always say gg but would get responses like "f' off" or "noob!".

My cousin was playing with this guy in a friendly match and the dude quit right before he lost. Haha I don't know why people do it. You guys can add me if you want. I am mostly playing w@w but I hop on sf now and then.

I have no idea why but it seems like out of all the games I seem to play [genre wise] fighting games always have the worst communities.I am not saying that they are terrible all of the time, sometimes you can have fun especially if you play with friends.Sadly games like Virtua fighter online,Soul calibur 4,Street fighter,DOA 4,the smack down vs raw series etc,etc I find most of the time not fun for the following reasons

  1. You get your ass kicked so bad by people who played the game alot more than you,and with me I only have so much patience with a fighting game.
  2. When you do start to get better at the game and start beating people they always want to quit, thus making your effort to get better pretty much useless
  3. Lag.Yeah you Smackdown vs raw,lag,lag,lag,lag lag
  4. People who love to spam the same attacks. In the case of soul calibur 4 kelic.Yeah if you are good you can sometime counter the attacks but it is still very annoying.
  5. Smackdown. You and your lovely glitches...
This is why I will only buy a Fighting game if the game has a strong singleplayer.Like Soul calibur 2 had huge weapons master mode and arcade mode.

lol SCIV had a lot of laggers/DCers/spammers, it was terrible.

I only play for character customization every now and then.

Thank you for proving my point.I did not play a whole lot of the game online but from what I played it was terrible. You want bad though.Smackdown vs raw 07 was horrible. There was this one glitch were one person could take their character into the crowd[which was not a glitch] the glitch was were they would climb the scaffolding and just stay there.Losers would always do this glitch. So the person who was winning had to just sit there and either wait until the match ended in a draw or quit out. There was no way for you to go up and get the person just camping up there...It was horrible. That and the quitters was off the chain.

I've had to quit on a guy in SF2 that didn't recieve any damage. I was whooping his ass and it wouldn't damage him but he was able to take away tons of my hit points. I basically thought that was BS and left the game.

Something similar has happened a few times to me. It seemed like a bug or something. When I hit my opponent, I would see his life bar start to go deplete, but then a split second later (more like nanosecond), his bar fills back up like he hasn't been hit, and I get damage instead, though I clearly had hit him first. This lasts for the whole fight. It might just be some lag or something, but it seems weird the way it happens.

I've played that Clermos guy before and written him messages. He's a noob and I've played him many times and he always D/C's. Kinda fun though knowing that he hates to play me and he gets owned every time I play him.

Every game should have the D/C % they have like in Madden '09. I don't play anyone with 20% disconnect, because more than likely they quit on you. That game frustrates me so badly though. Talk about play exploitation, this is the prime example...there's just plays and teams you honestly can't stop if the user knows that. SOO FRUSTRATING. I'm really thinking about picking up SF4, it looks simply awesome and I enjoy this type of fighter more than SC4, it's to 'user (noob) friendly). Stupid kids who play Madden online find a few plays that work and do nothing else...oh yeah...and use the Cowboys.
