My adivice:
If you're a newcomer to MGS, I'd recoomend getting the Essentials Collection before. After that, you wouldn't be asking if you should buy MGS4 or not.
MGS 4, wiki the story or youtube it if you are new to MGSnwarrior89
Don't do this... just stick to my advice.

I said "IF" as in "not sure that you've played them". See the IF there??
And R2 is good, yeah. In fact I played it more times than I played MGS4. MGS4 is good but it's waaaaaaaaaaaay too heavy on the story. It's easy to get bored with that cuz there are a lot of cutscenes and not all of them are really relevant/interesting to the story.
MGS 4, wiki the story or youtube it if you are new to MGSnwarrior89No, Wikipedia will be nowhere near good enough to gather the emotions and story. Wikipedia is good after you've played the game once, but never before. Either get the Essentials Collection off of Amazon (three great games and classics for only 29.99) or Youtube the story. You don't want to miss the full experience. There's no way to fully describe the Metal Gear Saga's greatness in terms of story. Resistance may have better durability, but MGS4 dominates the rest, to answer the TC's question.
I'd say to go with Resistance 2. I'm just not big on the MGS franchise.BioShockOwnzAgentH wrote :
Well BioShockOwns, for once I would have to agree with you and that is on your signature and not on what you posted. Specially the red bolded one. Completely agree.

MGS 4, wiki the story or youtube it if you are new to MGSnwarrior89A few months before MGS4 came out, I tried this. After days of trying to be stimulated into the story via reading, I just said "Screw this" and got all of the games... one of the best decisions of my life.
Now R2 is a great game, but MGS4 blows it away in just about every way. Super graphics, superior gameplay, superior story, superior soundtrack.
I doesn't matter whether you've played the previous MGS games, 4 is the greatest game this generation and a must have no matter what!

R2 has MUCH better graphics. Have you seen the second level's alien ship infested sky in HD? Also MGS4's textures in the palace level where you meet up with your team are just awful! I thought it was a PS2 game, honestly!i agreeR2 has MUCH better graphics. Have you seen the second level's alien ship infested sky in HD?

AgentH wrote :Yea obviously. But I just want to clear something out, I wouldn't have reached "The Illuminati" subject if it wasn't for Metal Gear and Kojima's introduction to the "New World Order" in the storyline that is "The Patriots". The chances of me searching for the term "New World Order" would have been so small and if it wasn't for Metal Gear and Kojima, "Illuminati" would have never crossed my mind. Thanks Mr.Kojima for waking me up. I owe you alot. Oh and by the way, this past week, I have been watching tons of videos about "them" on youtube and I'm currently watching "John Todd" speech who is a former Illuminist as I'm writing this post. Again, thanks Kojima.
