Ratchet & Clank Bad News...

Ratchet & Clank is one of my absolute favorite game series of all time and I just learned that the new game (A Crack In Time) will be the last in the series. I knew the last game would eventually come but I didn't think it would be this soon. Time flies too fast, I just hope the ending is good which is all I can really hope for

I hope they don't end the entire franchise. It's one of my favorites...

I thought it was just the TOD story arc. Is it really the entire series?

Hmm, if they're planning on ending Ratchet and Clank, I just hope they don't give up the franchise to anyone like they did with Spyro. Poor Spyro :(hazelnutman

hahahaha, it's not the end of Ratchet and Clank, they would lose too much if they did something ridiculous like that. It's the conclusion to the Ratchet & Clank Future branch, which consists of Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, and a Crack in Time.motherboop

Yeah, now that you mention it, they did say in Game Informer that it was the end of the series. I took that to mean that it was the end of the R@C games, but I guess not...

It will probably end up like spyro. Once Insomniac is done with it some developer will pick it up and turn it lackluster.

They'll come up with another series that's just as good, so I'm not worried.

they better not end it. r&c is one of the franchises ive been playing the longest. i would hate to see it end

If they ended the entire franchise I'd be horrendously disappointed.:? Not many franchises just turn out consistently awesome games, and I'm proud to say that I haven't played a bad R&C game yet.

I'm as big a Ratchet-and-Clank-fan as the next gamer, but I think it's about time Insomniac ended this series and brought us another new exciting IP. By the way, I called that this would be the last R&C game since Resistance 2 came out, so it's time to say "I told you so."

After this is Resistance 3 in 2010, and then a new IP in 2011. Since I'm predicting that Resistance 3 will be the series finale for that game as well, I'm not sure if they're gonna bring another new IP in 2012 or just a sequel to the game they make for 2011.

same here, i'm definitely buying Crack in Time, but i'm glad its coming to an end, hopefully it has multiplayer as well

as for Resistance, i highly doubt it. they just made the retribution series, which will obviously have a sequel.

and in i don't think R3 will be the last one ether, it mite be the end of hale/ make him the villain. but then human race is all but gone, they have to have our triumphant comeback.

personally i think their will be a resistance/ R&C cross over seeing as how earth is in the Chimera solar system now.

It has to end some time. I just hope they don't go the way of Spyro and Crash:(

Hopefully they buy back the Spyro franchise and start making games again.

I still have Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction in the shrink wrap. It came with my PS3 lol...

Along with Casino Royale Blu-Ray, which I returned to Wal-Mart for a sweet $33. Great movie, but not better than $33 lol

EDIT: I meant to say I might try out R&C eventually, but there's too many good games to play and I just don't have enough time. :x

I haven't really been convinced that it's worth the time.

It's very clear to me when playing "Tools of Destruction" that these guys have the experience and passion for this series of games. Resistance is good, but nowhere near as good as R&C in my opinion. These games are full of charm and joy and humor...that said, ending the story arc and starting up a new IP would be a good idea in my opinion. Insomniac has ALL of the resources and support of Sony so there's no reason they can't come up with something awesome in a few years time.

It was a great series and it is a shame to see it end. However it will be nice to see what else Insomniac can do. I mean, they done Resistance, so I wonder what else they will do next.

What? I thought it was just supposed to be the end of the "Future" trilogy, not necessarily the end of R&C forever... Damn.

I hope this doesn't mean they end up focusing on Resistance. That's the series that they should be putting to rest, if anything.

just watched the gs live show about r&c and they say that crack in time will be the last episode in the future arc and there is a good possibility that it will be the last episode in the series....

so end of the future arc...yes

end of the series....maybe we may get the anwser when we have won a crack in time

It's not bad news mate.

At some point in time all the great things need to come to a end. This frees up new future ideas that I have no doubt will be successors for talented developers.

You have to move on ahead and not always live in the past. ;)

It is only the end of the current story arc. Insomnaic may or may not make more R&C games after a crack in time is released, but i wouldn't be surprised to see them choose to make Resistance 3 then some new game before returning to ratchet in a few years.choasgod

ye i feel the same way we may see insomniac make a new IP and the go back to R&C on the playstation 4 or something like that

Hopefully this is just the end of the future arc, not the entire series, with that said, as much as i love the series i think some re-invention is due
