IDK if its just me or maybe alot of other people feel this way but to me I think red dead redemption is overrated. Been playing for a few hours already and most of the game seems borning.

Feel the little games of texas hold'em, horseshoes the finger knife game are more fun than the actual whole game. I've been going on mission after mission hoping that the game will suck me in more but no just been getting the ranchhand work here, go take this person here, go rope the horse there. I'm confused cause it got multiple game of the year awards everywhere and to me its not even close to that level.

Anyone else just not get sucked in by red dead redemption?

The online was kind of fun, but other than that I was pretty bored. I played for about an hour, went back a few days later for another hour, and then just stopped. I was annoyed that there was this huge world and really nothing fun to do in it or even look at (would it have killed them to make the map smaller and put more towns in it or something?). Really, Rockstar hasn't done anything for me this gen (GTA IV was also a boring let down for me, which is a shame since I was a fan of the ones for the ps2).

it was a very good game, though yea, i agree it's a bit overrated. poor pacing (especially after the 1st act), loose narrative and a surprisingly uninteresting protagonist discounts quite abit from what is otherwise a great experience. i'm also VERY annoyed by the sub-HD graphic that Rockstar shoves up our arses, but that's just me. on the other hand, it must be complemented for great action (with vastly improved cover-system as compared to GTA4), a beefy suite of multiplayer content and the high quality DLCs. i particularly heard a lot of good things about the expansion pack Undead Nightmare, though i can't really comment since i haven't played it.

I felt the same way, I bought it day one thinking I'd love it. After 2 weeks I got the platinum and traded it in. It's a good game as I can't really point towards anything in particular that felt wrong, but it wasn't my type.

Loved it, best Rockstar game ever. I thought the narrative, while pacing was awkward at times, was done very well, especially the last act in Blackwater. I am looking forward to a sequel.

Its a wild west gta, I dont mind gta but they get boring... That said, my first time with red dead was with the stand alone zombie disc, I loved it...but after 25 hours grinding my way to 100% I wanted more...ended up buying the full disc, it's a shame the multiplayer content is why I'm not 100% but no matter, I loved the time I spent with it :) ...I still can't get into gta though, why is this I dont know...

It's certainly a good game. Deserving of the 9.5+ scores and GOTY it got? Probably not. It' like the GTA series. It has fun gameplay. Decent voice acting. Not much else. At least, for me. I could never finish a GTA story mode. And I couldn't with RDR either. I'll never understand how the GTA series, or this game got such high score.

It was a good game but was never great, after I finished the game I had to incentive to go back to it and do all the side quests etc. Games being overrated seems to be something that is being linked to Rockstar a bit more than they maybe like.

Good but definitely not great. Extremely overrated considering all the awards heaped upon it. The atmosphere was fantastic and the characters were good, but the gameplay and story left a whole lot to be desired.

It's a long game to play dont expect it to take off right away like a straight shooter. This game can take easily 3-4 weeks to beat. It does get a lot more fun once you figure out how to play it. And the story is just like a western is suppose to be.

Yep it's way over rated..There's way too many glitches for this game to be GOTY. As far as the game play goes, it's fun for the first few hours, but then doing the same missions over and over get old really quick. I really had to force myself to finish the game.

GTA games are great to play when you want to take out real life stress or frustrations lol

There's nothing like stopping traffic and pounding a bunch of people to death with a baseball bat for being rude in the game ("hey, get out of the road a**hole!" "Oh yeah? I'll show you!"), when you're pissed off in real life. Great release!

I don't believe it's overrated, IMO it's one of the greatest games this generation. I do agree that it did get a little boring and repetitive in the beginning, and that Mexico dragged on too long, but from the last few missions in Mexico onward, I found it to be extremely enjoyable. My only complaint is that in the postgame, there really isn't much to do other than shoot up towns and hunt.

I enjoyed it it's slow but I thought it got better later on in the game I actually like most of the characters in the game. I have to admit I had more fun with Undead Nightmare.

Decent voice acting? Rockstar games have the best voice acting around, along with the Uncharted games. Anyways, RDR is one of my favorite games of all time. I love the old West setting, and Rockstar did a great job a recreating it. That being said though, the game does start off a little slow, so if you're not into it now, give it a little more time. The first few missions with Bonnie are pretty boring. I never could finish GTA4 either, but I love Red Dead Redemption.

The game ended up feeling more shallow than it first appeared for me.

I got through Mexico, which I guess is almost finishing the game, but somewhere around there I lost interest.
