I was thinking of getting DeadSpace. Is it better than RE5 in terms of survival horror? I dont really care for RE5 i think its more action oriented than it should be .

Well RE5 is ALL action and almost zero horror which really sucks but I personally found Dead Space to not have much horror either more so focusing on BOO! scares and it's not much of a survival horror game. If you want a real survival horror game, download Resident Evil: Director's Cut from the PlayStation Store ;)
One of the greatest survival horror games out there, only beaten by Resident Evil 2 and the REmake.
Suspense is exactly what i want . RE5 strayed away from its roots a little too much for my liking. Still a good game just not suspenseful like it used to be.Thanks for the reply
dead space is better. Its what resident evil should be no ofense resident evil. Resident evil needs another overhual in my opion. less action more survival horror.
TC... if you think that way about RE5, which is right for it being more action oriented rather than maintaining its survival horror status... get Dead Space. Don't get me wrong though, both are good games... i got 'em. if you want more of thescary stuff over the shooting action (which both have)... Dead Space is the one for you.
I really like Dead Space and I really like the old RE games but if it's between RE5 and Dead Space, go with Dead Space. I found it to be very fun and grants quite the paranoia. Cuz those necromorphs come out of toasters and shoes all the time.
The beginning of Resident Evil 5 is extremely tense when you find out about whats going on in the town, but Dead Space keeps the atmosphere throughout the game, both are excellent but Dead Space is better IMO.
Ironically I just picked-up Dead Space a few days ago and can honestly say that it's the only true survival horror game this-gen of gaming....along with silent hill. RE5 was ok, it just wasn't scary...when I played Dead space I actuallly jumped a few times. lol
This. Neither Dead Space, nor RE5 fit the survival horror genre by any stretch of the imagination. Sci-fi action, with a few pop out scares, yeah. Hell, even Silent Hill: Homecoming is a better fit for the genre. That being said, Dead Space is still a much better game then Resident Evil 5.

If you must decide between Dead Space and RE5, Dead Space is the better game. If you're looking for a good survival horror game, go for Siren intead.

Dead Space definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole game. I enjoyed this game far more than Resident Evil 5. Plus, the weapons in Dead Space ar sick.
RE5, Dead Space is repetitive, slightly boring, and it's not as scary as many say it is. RE5 is less of a survival horror game than Dead Space, but I found it better.

I don't get this idea people have that Dead Space is survival horror. It blows my mind, the classic Resident Evils and Silent Hill were survival horror. Jeez even RE4 was more survival horror than Dead Space. Dead Space is a sci-fi action game with horror elements.
I have RE5 and its not a bad game just not what i expected. DeadSpace sounds good and its a walmart bargain bin game now so i cant lose!!! I just wanted some outside opinions since it is an EA game and they put out some serious trash.

I enjoyed the Coop in RE5, there are very few Splitscreen Coop games nowerdays, though the single player isn't that good. I agree with you on Dead Space though, the control scheme allows the game to be less intense (I mean an average necromorph isn't scary at all two well placed shots and your done) and add a layer of action to the gameplay. I loved the atmosphere, but in a way Dead Space can feel like an action/adventure game with occasional horror senarios integrated in it.
RE5 was terrible. The story was terrible, characters were terrible, the gameplay was terrible and repetitive and it wasnt even scary. RE5 was a major letdown for me
they are both great games, but Dead Space is the better game hands down, it was much more suspensful and scared me more than any survival horror in recent memory, I highly recommend you get Dead Space
