http://www.capcom-unity.com/s-kill/blog/2009/03/12/resident_evil_goes_versus_

"Versus Mode" is bringing a whole new flavor of Resident Evil to RE5 via DLC.

It's got two gametypes--"Slayer's Rule" (and Majini drool?), and "Survivor's Rule." "Slayer's Rule" is a shooting gallery of Majini killification, where the most ruthlessly efficient killing machine racks up the top score to win. "Survivor's Rule" involves the phsyical challenge of not getting capped by another live human. You can play one-on-one or two-vs-two, using a variety of characters from the game.

Versus mode will be available a few weeks after tomorrow's launch for 400 MS Points on XBL, and $4.99 for PSN. That means just as you've had a chance toget your fill of RE5 co-op with friends, Versus arrives to remind you what friends are really for: shooting at.

CAPCOM

*sigh* Now companies are going to charge players for multiplayer? Is anyone else sickened by this? It's not just that they're charging for multiplayer, but to announce something like this coming out just "a few weeks"of the game beingreleased... it's just shady.

Yeah DLC has become a new means of ripping people off, well I wont be getting it. Its a shame that among actual worthwhile DLC comes cash ins like this and the alternate costumes in SFIV. Funny both from Capcom.

Most DLC is fine. Charging for a completely new component to a game so close to launch is kinda obvious they're milking.

The alternate costumes in SFIV is the biggest ripoff I've ever seen. In every other fighting game you get about 3-4 alternate costumes for every character in the game, or completely costumizable costumes. Don't think I've ever seen a DLC that's been worth the cost. Lost and Damned is probably the only good DLC, but still to expensive.

I wont buy it because it's an obvious way they've gone about intentionally leaving it out so they could charge extra for it. That's BS! This is one of the reasons I hate 360 because MS charges for everything. I wont buy into this kind of money milking business practices.

I remember some game company saying they want to include a special key that comes with a game to allow you to play all the way through. You can only use the code once and then its dead. Meaning if you buy the game used you won't get the full game and will have to pay to buy the key on xbl and psn.

It's sad to see companies releasing $$$ DLC within weeks of launching the title. At this rate, the PS4 is going to have a coin/dollar slot and you'll have to pay $1 per hour of use.

It was the President of EPIC games, he was talking about how to fight used game sales. He said he talked to some other developer who he wouldn't say, that said if you bought the game new you would get the whole game with an unlock code for the final levels, but if it was used you would have to go to the digital store and buy another unlock key. I want to make it clear it was not Epic's idea, he was just stating what he heard. Epic is awesome, they are releasing a MASSIVE FREE EXPANSION for UT3. 19 maps, new vehicles, new game modes, new characters, new weapons, new mutators, trophies, splitscreen ... ALL FOR FREE! Not to mention Gears of War 1 got free map packs, and Gears of War 2 had a free map pack with 5 maps if you bought the game new. That was EPIC's work around for used sales. If you got Gears 2 new, you got a code for 5 free maps.

I'm very disappointed with Capcom's approach towards DLC. I mean, at the very least, be a bit less obvious and release it some time after release : don't go announcing DLC even before the game is released worldwide, what the heck?! Capcom's way of subtlety is a joke, even considering all the "Jill isn't Dead" threads that were fueled by the spoilerific trailers and painfully obvious plot twists that were clearly indicated in the footage they've released so far. In other words, Jun Takeuchi (Producer for RE5) is by no means a Hideo Kojima, in storytelling at least, lol.

I wouldnt go praising Epic.

The Gears of War 2 "free maps" were essentially the same thing. A way of making the resale value lowered and a way of sticking it to your customers. You know those maps were included on the original dvd. You had to punch in a code to unlock them.

Im tired of these companies.

I for one wont be buying RE5 now. I'll rent it. Beat it. And thats it.

This Really sucks, I for one have been looking fowards to a RE5 as soon as I finished playing RE4 a few years ago. Now they come up with this CRAP. of charging for content that should be free.

I think at the most Il lprobably just rent this game, or worse yet just borrow it from a friend....

capcom, could go to hell now if their thinking of milking me.

It's completely asinine. Obviously Capcom has had this planned from the beginning.

Why should we pay to stand there and shoot someone when we can get fast-paced online play like in Killzone 2 for no extra charge?

That's exactly what i was thinking. You can't move when shooting, so when you come across somebody, it all comes down to who has the better weapon/quickest aim turning it into a quickdraw game. Thiskind ofversus wouldn;t work too well imo.

On the other hand, the target practice mode would work fine. They should have just put in a survival mode where each player has to survive against waves of enemies until the lastman standing.

If anybody praises Epic they are a fool. The game has been out for four months and they still have not fixed any of the major problems with the game.In the first month that it had been out, instead of fixing the problems they came out with a map pack....was it free?Hell no it was about 10 bucks.Epic is probably the worst game company in terms of fixing the problems with their games and giving the fans what they want. Now it was nice that they came out with UT3 trophies and new things, problem is they might be alittle late.

It should have already been in the game, that is the point. If it was free there would be no problem.Charging for DLC not even a week after the world wide release of a game is not cool.It makes people think that they were holding out,and waiting to squeeze more money out of the consumers.

This is the most blatant milkage I have ever seen. I didn't like the RE5 demo, and now this really seals it. I have absolutely no interest in Capcom anymore. TC I am sickened right with you. Capcom figures that Resident Evil is a big enough name that they can pull these sorta shenanigans, and it's despicable. It's a debacle, I tell you. Besides, who in their right mind would pay 5 bucks for tacked-on RE multiplayer when you could be in the Warzone?

New proposal from game developers:

They're gonna start charging you $5 to use the start button to pause the game pretty soon if people don't act out. Yeah, most gamers don't pause the game anyways right? Give me a break.

DLC is progress? Not when you use it like that!

isn't ubisoft already doing this with Prince of Persia. you have to pay for the add-on content to find out the "real" ending? i hear the conent is supposed to be really good and you can actually die now...but still
