Im pretty stoked about RE5 coming out. Im a big fan of the RE series and own everyone except for RE: Dead Aim but it looked so ridiculous i couldnt buy it. However im worried that Capcom is going to head further in the wrong direction with the games. I love the new controls they put in RE4 but it did take away some creepyness that were in the previous titles with the fixed cam posistions and everything. However RE4 had entirely way too much action in it. I loved the game but im afraid RE5 will be the same all action and no horror. I want to decide wether i should run like a wuss or stay and fight, not blast my way through waves of enemies like on RE4. I would like to see RE6 if it ever makes it that far, go back to the original aspects of a RE game, scaring the crap out of me.

It's not really a horror series anymore. It's more of a shooter. I'm not a huge fan of where the series has gone, but I'll probably pick up a copy when it hits 20 or 30 dollars.

I have to agree with you, they seem to be going downhill, but I suppose I can still hope for the best in the furture

Going downhill? How blind can you be? The traditional RE formula was going stale after being recycled for 5 games in a row (RE, RE2, RE3, RE:CV & RE0), it needed a kick up the rear. RE4 was an excellent reinvention of the series and stayed true to it's horror roots. Now RE5 doesn't seem as much of a horror title as the previous games but to say the series is going downhill from the originals is just wrong. It's going to be an excellent game and one that's probably going to be more fun to play than the originals.

That's entirely debatable. I just know I had more fun playing 1-3 than I did spending months trudging through 4.

Me personally. Not pumped for this game. I loved RE4 for the cube but not really feeling this one. I tried the demo and wasn't really impressed with the gameplay. I can wait a while after I beat Killzone and H.A.W.X. Just myopinion.

exactly, the previous titles kept the game close to its setting, the mansion inRE, The trainingFacility in RE:0,RCPD in 2 and Racoon City in3, Code Veronica wentoutside the box but in RE4i never thought i was going to get out of that castle, or off that island. However RE4 did make good of the mini games that were unlocked after you finally did jet ski off that rock!

capcom has said that future resident evil games are going for something different, i think RE5 is the last one where they're going to use the "run'n'gun" formula. i read that somewhere on GS but i don't feel like looking it up for linking.

You mean that "stop, aim, and gun" formula. I'm not sure RE5 qualifies as a "run n' gun."

I'm alittle disappointed that it won't be long as expected, because I love stories in video games. As we know, due to multiplatforming and a waste of that 50GB Blu-Ray disc.

If any of you are true Resident Evil fans, you shouldn't have to worry about the whether it's scarry or not. The villians may have changed, but the story has not. The game wasn't meant to be focused around zombies, but, on Chris, Albert, Jill, Claire, Leon, etc... Yes, it is a let down that zombies are no longer an aspect of the game, but do remember that as time moves on, games will become harder, they will change around a bit, but will still have the same characters as when you left off. The game hasn't even released yet and most of you are saying this will be my last Resident Evil game. Wait until you see what's in it before you decide to make judgement about. Who knows, it may be pretty fracken intense. Can't wait for my Collector's Edition to come in. xD

Same here, brother. Although I kind of liked Dead Aim. Not the best in the series, but it was better than Survivor (shudders...). And I wouldn't doubt RE6, like you are hoping, would go back to its roots. I mean, Dead Space already proved that it can "borrow" RE4's schemes and still scare the hell out of you. As for tactics, I usually blast away, and run from the big guys. lol, I just like to go for the headshot to stun them, then run up and punch the fool in the face. It just never gets old. Still, what I've seen and played (demo), I don't see why it can't at least be as good as RE4.

As I have always said before on the same topic. No one is forcing anybody to purchase or play any game. Therefore if you don't think you will like a game whether it isbecause of the gameplay or graphics or anything, just choose not to play or purchase it.

Did you even play the original REs, seriously? That B-movie schlock was barely horror in the first place. Bats and giant spiders? Ooooo scary :o.

Resident Evil 5 will never be good as Resident Evil 2 and 4 which are probably my favourite 2 in the series.
