I tried to copy the save data for RE5 to my SD card, and it says that copying this data is prohibited, does anyone know why. I think this is really dumb because i copy all my save data for all my games to my SD card incase something happens to my PS3.

No idea. It's like that with a few other save files (KZ2, Skate 2 and SF IV) and needless to say it bugs me cause I do the same thing plus I like to transfer all my save files from my PS3 downstairs to the one upstairs so I don't have to start all over again, but in the case of the games mentioned I do

this has happened to me as well , it now happens with most games like killzone 2, skate 2 and re5 . Probably to stop people from cheating by getting the saved file from some one that got everything in the game. It hate it since i really dont want to lose my saved files if something happens to my ps3

does anyone know why

Of course. Because they don't want you to cheat by downloading complete save files from the internet and using them as your own.

Hmm, that's weird, can't be a copyright problem. :S Have you tried using a USB Flash Drive? Or a Memory Stick from your PSP? (If you have) Both those ways always work for me, try it. Hope this helps. :)
