Hey everybody, new member here. I recently purchased my PS3 from a friend, and I can't play any of his downloaded games because he deactivated his account. He was planning on selling it elsewhere before I offered to buy it, so he deactivated it not knowing that the games would be unplayable. Is it possible to reactivate his account on, and will it make his games playable again? Any idea of how to do it?

don't you just need his account details to log in under an exisiting account, regardless of whether it's been removed from that console, and assuming it's not activated twice elsewhere?

I'm not sure, I've never done it before. I know that his account isn't active elsewhere because this was his only PS3. If he reactivates his account, will the games suddenly be reactivated, or will I need to delete and reinstall them? A couple of the games were reverted back to Trials, so would they be bumped back to the full versions?

I think he deactivated the PS3, not deleted his account, thus the account should still exist.

Problem will be to get his password / security question/answer if he doesn't remember it.

Yeah you can't really deactivate an entire account, just deactivate it on one system so the downloaded things don't work on it.

If he remembers his password and doesn't have anyone else using his account (or just one other person), you should be able to get it working.

everyone has a max of five different systems that they can log into and have all purchased content from psn. if he no longer has a ps3 and doesn't mind you using one of his five activations, then just ask for his email and password.

Ok, thanks. So, I found out that the downloaded games are split between him and his roommate's accounts. Both of whom are going to help me get this fixed. Last night, however, my girlfriend purchased a game on her account, and I've downloaded a few demos on mine. This shouldn't be a problem? Do they just make a new user, then use it to relog into the Playstation Network? Will the games have to be redownloaded, or will they work right away? A few of the games reverted from the full version to demos, so they be full versions again? Thanks again for the help. I'm new to the world of PS3, so I'm still learning here.
