Hi there everyone, ive looking everywere for the answer without success. My question is this: can the PS3 (especially with the E.E) run PS2 games that havent been relased yet?, for example Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3. I really doubt that the 80 gb version would be able to run it until later with a new firmware, so the 60 gb version can?

It's likely but there's no guarantee. You can't predict something like that, only testing will show what actually happens. I've read that compatibility is 95%. That still means some games have problems.

As long as the developers of Tenkaichi 3 did not stray from Sony's recommended game specs, the 60 GB version should have no problem playing the game, but there's always that chance that newer games will stray slightly due to attempts to get more out of the PS2. If you are trying to figure out which one to get, go for the 60 GB if you are concerned with backwards-compatability. If you aren't too concerned and are content with software emulation, the 80 GB is definetly the way to go. (I got a 60 GB just because i needed something to play my PS2 games well when i go to college.)

you would probably have no problem cause the 60 was compatable with 99% precent of ps2 games at launch

Well im definitively going to get the 60gb version, and i believe i dont have another way that to take the risk of buyin the DBZ game and hope that it works on the PS3. Anyone knows more about how the E.E works or have a japanese tenkaichi3 running on a ps3? (lol i really doubt that)

A japanese PS2 game won't work becuase I think they are region encoded. May be wrong about that though.

True. Only Blu-ray films and PS3 games are region free. The rest is locked.

You won't have any problems with an E.E- equipped PS3 playing PS2 games as they are released in North America. As an example, i picked up Spyro: The Eternal Night, which was just released recently. Played with no problems at all.

The 60 GB would have a much better chance playing a new game than a 80 GB for sure.
