I didn't get into Oblivion because, I'm not really into old Dungeons and Dragons RPG's. Fallout 3 is great, but its basically the lovechild of the Fallout series with Oblivion, if you liked some ofthe features in Oblivion then you might enjoy Fallout 3, which is absolutely amazing.
The FF games are also good fun, don't know about long though. I'd check out Final Fantasy XIII when its out.

You're mad, MAD I say.... You could try Valkyria Chronicles. I haven't finished it yet so I can't really say it's long. Fun though. Also, it's a strategy RPG and that might not be your thing. Other than that all I could suggest is for you to wait for FFXIII. I would've suggested Fallout 3 if you didn't hate Oblivion,

i didnt like oblivion much, but i like fallout 3. if you want a good rpg thats completely different from oblivion, try valkyria chronicles. also keep in mind that we have dragon age, demon souls, and white knight chronicles coming soon. im sure that atleast one of those will be good.
