Any suggestions you have are much appreciated. More info below if you like:

Things I enoyed about it:

- It had a very good overall theme, environment and graphics, well tied together.

- Excellent single-player campaign, well focused, yet allowing quite a bit of over-all freedom while achieving goals along the way.

- Interesting characters

- Excellent weapon selection and introduction order & timing, along with goodand strength/progression of said weapons.

- Weapons well designed with ability to vary attack utilizing differing ammo/attributes

- Replayability is one of the best I have come across, though it certainly has a lot to do with my oveall enjoyment of the game

- Mulit-player not a major element/requirement. (Ienjoy playing at my own pace in shooters, was never a bigon the 'team'aspects.)

- Excellent and creative use of special skills (in this case through plasmids), offering a much more diverse and ultimately more fun form of gameplay and use of strategy

- Well done initial progression and learning curve, very natural.

Things I would have liked to have seen done better:

- More intelligent AI

- More use of vertical environment, this game is almost completely enclosed, with some creative effects to provide visual relief (tunnels, use of water instead of air, yet meeting a spacial need.)

(I have been a long-time primary PC gamer, and am back on console for the first time in about a decade, throughly enjoying it, yet am unfamiliar with many of the more well thought of games for this platform, and the selection seems much smaller, so I want to make intelligent choices, not too mention I don't want to waste money these days.)

Other games like this I have thoroughly enjoyed, mostly from PC platform:

FarCry, MaxPayne, Half-Life, etc...

I wanted to suggest the Orange Box but you probably already played that on PC then. Maybe Fallout 3.

Cant think of any games like that on the PS3 maybe the new Batman game coming out which is built similar to Bioshock. The first game that comes to mind that I believe Bioshock borrowed alot from is the Metroid Prime series.

If you [really] like Bioshock, try Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams coming out sometime around Q4. It's part prequel, part sequel. What's not to love. But if you can't wait to get another game for the PS3 that fits your (very picky) specifications, I immediatly the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Here's what you would like about it:

- Highly detailed

- Great plot

- Interesting characters

- It isn't nesscisary to play online to have fun

- Great array of weapons EXAMPLE: Pistols, Submachine Guns, Rifles, Explosives, Grenade Launchers, Anti-Matter Rifle, Railgun, Sniper Rifles, Tranqualizers, Smoke Grenades, Stun Grenades, Incendiary Grenades, Knives, and 2 dolls which can munipulate foe's bodies.

- Most weapons are custimizable EXAMPLE: Grenade Launchers, Scopes, Sights, Under-barrel Shotguns, Foregrips, Supressors, Laser Sights, Flashlights

- Some weapons have unique munitions EXAMPLE: Emotion Darts, Tranqualizers, Explosive Munitions, Different Coloured Smoke Grenades

- Unique moves, mainly CQC (Close Quarters Combat) which involves grabbing an enemy, slitting his troat, throwing him, choking, unique punches, and many other cool moves.

- Asome AI

- Somewhat unique enviroments

BioHazard, dead space, system shock, (have done the Orange box on PC, awesome), Metal Gear Solid 4, all have caught my eye at one time or another, I will certainly give a few a try.

Did see sea of dreams for the Fall, look forward to it, don't know how good it will be, time will tell. Far cry comes to mind, loved 1, haven't tried the sequel, people don't seem too impressed, maybe when the price comes down.

Wasn't trying to be picky, just trying to provide as much info as possible. Have other favs, GTA, Sports, did WoW for a long time, I do enjoy that type of online environment and teamplay, not sure why that is more appealing, probably the genre. Anyway, I do appreciate your details on Metal, sounds very cool.

Thanks again.

Yeah, exactly. This right here, except swap The Darkness for the first System Shock.

Actually I would recommend The Darkness as well. It had a tragic story, great graphics, interesting gameplay with the mix of darkness powers and guns used at the same time. Not up to the league of Bioshock, then again, Bioshock surpasses many games out now. But The Darkness is a worthy game to play.

The Darkness is one of my favorite games this gen. I rave about it on these forums all the time! :D

I highly recommend it if you like Bioshock. you might want to rent it first or find a demo since it's not to everyones taste, but it's pretty cheap now so even buying it won't set you back much.

Yeah, I also loved The Darkness. Great graphics and story. Definetly in my Top 10 All Time Games. $20 or less, a steal.
