Erm.. how to reply to that. I personally would say get the PSP and a handful of good PSP games.
But that's really up to you. How much do you love your PS3, and how many games does it have that you want? Buying games just to spend money isn't a very good idea... you'll regret it if you find you don't enjoy those games you bought just to buy.
And by the way, there aren't any "Watered Down Ports" for the PSP. If you live in the USA in fact, they refuse to release any ports that do not have a significant number of addons and/or improvements made to the game. You're probably thinking of games, like Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, that have actually not been ported to the PSP, but FROM the PSP to the PS2.
