It's my prediction. You heard it here first folks.

you're really late, you are no way near "first" to predict that..
i predict that sony will be at E3! that's right you heard it from me in this thread FIRST!..
I say, that's a rather bold prediction

I say, I say the chap has a bit of a point though sir.
to the point of them losing money, they could do a redesign and replace some of the stuff like the blu-ray drive so they're more reliable and cheaper.
That's a good idea. Not everybody who buys a PS3 wants a blu ray player so a lot of people are paying extra for an option they don't want.to the point of them losing money, they could do a redesign and replace some of the stuff like the blu-ray drive so they're more reliable and cheaper.

How are they going to play games then...
Very true. Even Gamespot had a little hint at it too.It has been rumored for weeks now, you aren't the first one

So then the PS3 would just turn into a glorified DVD player ..
You guy do know that all PS3 games are on Blu-Ray right? :|

That's a good idea. Not everybody who buys a PS3 wants a blu ray player so a lot of people are paying extra for an option they don't want. Actually the blu-ray player is the one feature all PS3 gamers want the most. Why? Because its the only thing that will read PS3 games!!!!I don't think there will be a redesign as Sony can't afford to do it; they are losing to much dough already. However, I do think they will announce a price drop to sell more consoles. savetehhalozThink about what you just said. They can't afford a redesign because they are aready losing a lot of money, but they can just lower the price to sell more? They'd still be losing money. The whole reason Sony ever makes their systems slimmer is to lower manufacturing costs as well as the retail price. The redesign is what would actually allow Sony to lower the retail price because manufacturing costs would be lower. If they did this they'd be turning profit overnight. Because I've talked to TONS of people who say the only reason they don't have a PS3 is because of the price. So not only would they have instant rush of customers they'd also be making way more overhead than they would with the current, expensive-to-manufacture design..... This, ladies and gentlemen, is why I and so many others think a redesign is inevitable. However I highly doubt it will be as soon as some think. And don't let GameStop clerks lie to you. They are full of ****. They get all their info from gaming magazines and websites just like we do. Working at a retail store does not give them any exclusive insight into the gaming industry. They're just fans like the rest of us. ;)
willing to put some money on it, TC?Rakuho
lol no way. I don't put down money on things unless I'm sure about them, and I'm far from sure about the prediction I madein this topic. And to Nonstop-Madness, I followed the link you posted and you did essentially predict what I just did. Fair enough man, I agree with you 100%! Sorry if I didn't look into the legitimacy of the "heard it hear" thing. Yea, some people (like Brian Crescente, of Kotaku) don't believe that game companies should make too many big announcements at once, but I think Sony could make an absolutely awesome impactby announcing a re-design of and a price drop for the PS3 along with a new PSP with killer software. You heard it hear first folks. lol jk.
