Rename: Socom 3: LETDOWN

Even if it is his first Socom most of his complaints have nothing to do with problems with the game. Not updating his consoles firmware, not deleting the beta data on hid HDD, picking a room without mics, not selecting respawn next round. These things are all his fault. The only thing game wise is the stress on the servers, which every game has on release.

isnt testing a server what a beta is for?

So far it sounds like a letdown....NO trophies until weeks after launch. Theres going to be a patch but its not even certain if its retroactive. I dont want to play it all over again. Just gonna have to wait to see if they actually release this patch or just some BS again like always.

Agreed... you're judging before you've even really given the game a few good shots...And I love the system for joininga game... way better than most other online games where you just get put into a room, play, finish, and then kicked out to only look for another new one... and then re-invite your friends

The beta was limited. On release day there were 20,000 people trying to log onto a server that was only capable of handling half that. It was overloaded and it crashed.

Slant Six acknowledges that there's a problem, which is good; yet they fail to give a time frame in which the problem may be fixed. That bites the weenie.

I appreciate everyone biting my head off. I dont care what game it is, over an hour before I actually get into the game to play is ridiculous. I actually said the game wasn't bad, and I want to play it some more. Hopefully they will fix the servers.It was extremely annoying to try to get into the servers. Again Read Read and reread. Press start to ready up, ya no one wants to wait in the lobby for 15min. which is why if you read and ready up you will either enter the next round or if you join in a room with infinite respawns you will be spawned in the middle of the match.

The game is pretty much defective for EVERYONE so you will have to wait for a patch or something...and that is disappointing. If you buy a on-line only game, you expect to be able to play it the day you buy it. Its not like Sony did not beta test the game, or its not like they did not expect a massive amount of people wanting to play the game... i dont understand why we have to have problems like this with a high profile game...BUT WE DO. THANKS SONY.

Wow, for the first time in a long time I completely agree with everything you said.

I was upset last night when I couldn't get connected to the network and same thing this morning. I went home at lunch just to check and it connected flawlessly! I could only play one match before I had to return to work, but it ran extremely smooth, hardly any lag. Also there's so many people using mics, that tactics are actually possible, unlike Warhawk.

Even if the game ran ok, its still is so far from anything next gen and should not be 60 even with the heasset. Obviously They sis inot put alot of time or effort into the game. Big Surprise

And no matter what there are some people who will defend this game no matter what.

Im not a developer either but Im a consumer who knows when something I purchased is broke or not. warhawk had not much funding went for online only and look how that runs.

Socom was one of the first to use the network adapter, brought in millions in extra content including extra mics, hdd Drives, map packs, psn magazines buys. And this is the next gen, lets soley concentrate on online play which is usually an extra bonus for most games.

Motor Storms online code was originally written in 2 weeks to get it in time for the US release since originally it never had an online portion.

Game is fun...cant really wrap my head around it with the server issues...Also, took three installs to get past the "corrupted data"..but who cares..it is what it is...

I would really like to get a "training mode" or start a private match running solo just get to know the maps....it gets frustrating when all yea want to do is lean the map and your are getting dropped all the time

wow your very stupid if you think like that. the beta IS NOT TESTING SERVERS!! it is testing the gameplay of the game, the physics, how the players react with the environments, etc and the feedback from the very limited beta testers. Of course they knew they were going to get a massive amount of players. BUT they dont want to make a leap which is not necessary and determine how the servers are handling the situation and patch it up. The day i bought the game i had NO LAG and no connection problems, ive played so far about 5hrs with no problems

Yes, exactly so what the 3rd day? and already vast improvements to the servers. And yes people communicate a lot on this game it is KEY to winning. Ive been playing since socom 2 and once you get in a clan and have clan matches you will see how intense the game gets and how communication is sooo vital

how do you test servers with limited amount of players? How can you determine maximum potential, when the beta didnt have nearly half of the players that went on, on launch day? please tell me how you justify the amount of users? and dont say they should expect it. because thats not an answer, you cant expect something.
