Has anybody rented a movie on the PSN before? If so how is the quality? Is it blueray quality, or just normal DVD?

Also does anybody know if you can still rent The Dark Knight on the PSN, or is it available to purchase? Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

You can chose which resolution you want. They don't have every movie in HD but not too old movies usualy are. I somehow couldn't enter the movie store on my US account but in the EU The Dark Knight is only for sale, not for rent.

If you get the HD version the quality is very good, perhaps not the quality of Blu Ray, but certainly better than DVD.

When they first started rentals, they gave away movies on Saturdays... I started DL'ing a movie and it took half the night! I've since gotten faster net service, but that experience turned me off of rentals. Does anyone know if you BUY a movie, do they let you move it to a USB drive or something so that you don't have it taking up your HDD space? Or is it DRM'ed to the PS3 for good? Purchase of a digimovie here and there would be nice, but my HDD is getting full with game info so I'm becoming very selective as to what I buy lately.

Guess I need to upgrade the 120G to something bigger soon! The 'Welcome Back' gift games are hoggin' a lot of room.

HD movies will be good quality, but it's a rip off to rent from the Playstation Store. They charge you $5 more than a normal video store does.

You serious? Over here I pay 4 euro to rent a HD movie from PSN. That's less than $6, if I'm not mistaken.

VUDU > PSN video. VUDU is 1080p instant streaming with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. PSN offer none of those things. Picture quality is MUCH better too.

I've rented a couple and they are the quality you pay for, SD is probably more DVD quality than TV quality though. HD is probably a compressed blu ray to avoid downloading 20Gb of data but still very high quality.

I believe I saw it to be $5.99 to rent an HD movies in the US. Why would I pay that when I can go to the Blockbuster down the street and rent a Blu ray for $.99?

I don't ever rent off the PS store. It's too expensive. I simply wait a few months and then buy them for the same price of a rental. :)
