Hi, does anyone have any tips on tapping a button in a repeated motion such as SQUARE or CIRCLE? I ask because i just got X-men Origins: Wolverine, and I'm at a point in the game where you have to repeatedly tap the CIRCLE button at a crazy speed; now normally I am very good at this, but I guess I'm just not good enough for some games. :? So, I'm asking anyone out there, to please, give me some help. :)

Bring a friend for support lol it sounds silly, but button mashing with someone shouting at you really helps.

turbo controller.. grip master.. use your index finger instead of thumb.. dig controller into your chest.. i hate button mashing or those sequences it takes no skill and it's just annoying i rather just watch a cut scene or actually playing then having to just keep hitting a stupid button 50 times in a few seconds..

take a break, The only one I've had problems with was Tony Hawks American Wasteland. I had my brother do that for me, he's good at it.

i thought the exact opposite.. in cod4 after you save that woman heli pilot, then get nuked, that part where you are dying stumbling out of the heli falling down was amazing.. you actually controlled the character with no mindless button mashing.. i think that style would have been better suited for mgs4 microwave part.. still cinematic without the annoyance..

maybe it's just me but i avoid button mashing games because i don't enjoy mashing buttons.. when i play a re5 and mgs4 ect.. and have to mash buttons that annoys me greatly.. especially when a cut scene or the atmosphere could have given it the same effect..

God, it annoys me when games force you to do that. It REALLY pissed me off in Resident Evil 4 when you had to tap X like a madman to run away from that oncoming boulder. Such an annoyingly lazy thing for the developers to do. Maybe take a break and go back to it later, that's all I can think of.

button pressing really fast is so dumb, i cant push buttons fast, im so slow so i hate when i have to, usually i get someone else to do it, although that was more ps2 era, in mgs4 i dont think it really mattered if you failed at it? cause it just went right on to a cut scene

yeah kinda like flexing your arm but instead shaking your hand. you can get like 10-12 taps a second if you do it right

Use a spoon. I'm serious. Use the convex end of the spoon and go side to side with it on the button. It'll press it at rediculous speeds.

I hold the remote with one hand, curve my thumb and extend my other fingers with the other, and tap the button using the thumb nail.

There use to be this olympic game for the NES, the original system. Anyways, I never figured it out until reading about it years later. But you hit the nail on the head. Use a spoon and you can do pretty much anything you want lol.

People would run the 100m dash in like 4...5 seconds with the spoon lol

I find rapidly pressing the circle button is the hardest, i guess cause its on the edge, Square is easiest for me. But anyways, just dont have ur finger come off of the button tht far and just press it as much as u can. If it helps, put controller on pilliow, hold it w other fingers and use index finger to press. Take a break b/w tries.

Ok, thanks guys. I basically combined all your tips and tricks, and finally got it. However my entire arm was vibrating internally for about half an hour afterwards :P

I have a few techniques I've developed over the years ;)

1. Guitar Method: This is just like picking a guitar string where you ungrip the controller with your right hand and shake your wrist back and forth like you are flicking water off your fingers, hitting the button of choice over and over with your thumb.

2. Spoon Method: Take a spoon (hold it right side up) and slide it quickly back and forth over the button of choice. This will not damage your controller btw.

3.Peace Method: Make a peace sign with your right hand and put the controller in-between your fingers with your indexover the button-to-be-mashed and shake your arm up and down, hitting the button with the side of yourtrigger finger.

I know that part in the game. X-men origins Wolverine.

I use the same method that I used back in the days of the arcade. I place the controller on the coffee table and "rapid fire" Thumb 7 index finger on the "x" button. Playstation controllers since the buttons are so small make this difficult. The buttons are not designed for this unlike the coin-op arcade buttons of old.

You are just going to have to practice. Playstation controllers are not the best for button mashing. On of my Sixaxxis controller buttons is stuck because of this. The controller is thrashed or I should give it a good cleaning.

Cover half or less of the button with the top corner of your thumb and just go as fast as you can. Don't go too hard either just nice and light enough presses.

Personally i shake my wrist left and right and push the remote towards my thumb with my left hand, ive been doing it ever since some first grader told me that pressing b at ludacris speed would make things easier to catch in pokemon games like dmc3 had highh button input combos, but the worst was pressing a and b 200 times to get a gold racket in mario tennis... pure blasphemy, i only got it once
