Let's say that i want to replace a part of my uk with a component from region 1. will the ps3 still work?

Depends on the part, like circuits, capacitors, and such would be fine but it really depends on what.

In theory yes, but you never know, the only difference I know of are the PAL format and the voltage, I would think just a ribbon or a drive wouldn't matter.

Take theory and assusmtions lightly though, call Sony.
