I didn't really like "RE4", and #5 did little to sway me when I played the demo. I hate the over-the-shoulder, no-strafe control, and the over-all gameplay was sorta... meh. I know people hold it in pretty high esteem, but I personally hated it and avoid the series until such time as it returns to it's former glory.
You're not wrong in your feelings. Not one bit.

I found RE5 relatively easy. Granted I died quite a few times but thats to be expected between caring for two characters at times and some of the button sequeces scenes when you have to hit for example triangle square to avoid an oncoming object. Playing RE4 definitly helped me though so if your new to RE its understandable. Just keep playing and try to make sure you are continuously using upgraded/strong weapons when approaching strong enemies. Flash grenades work terrific too if your taking lots of damage from an enemy.
It might be a little hard the first time you play. But after a few playthroughs you'll probably be able to pass that area with just a handgun.

Fixed camera in those games made the stand-still-to-shoot mechanic easier to judge for me. I got grabbed from behind, etc. a lot less because i could see the various dangers better than that **** perspective offered by the newer games. That, and the older games are less about combat and more about survival. THe new games are just shooters. They've lost all tension by enemies dropping ammo and in-game "stores" to buy supplies , and as result lose their scary atmosphere, to my mind.
Fans who dig it are cool in their convictions, I just don't care for it personally.

i comepletely agree its supposed to be a horror/survival hey lets watch me walk through this game where you can even get quite a lot of magnum ammo, i mean come on, theres hardly any survival in this the older games even had the sounds perfect, police station you can hear the banging sounds making you afraid of moving incase you're suddenly attacked by the big boss even the bosses in 5 seem easyI played on Veteran right from the start and its not hard, you just need to get used to it ;PTanya_19
I've heard the same thing said about inserting things in places... Doesn't make the idea any less painful or attractive to me!
I'm just sayin...

hahaha that was good xDRun away and shoot from a distance, always keep your distance, and you can repeat chapters to get more money for upgrading. Professional is where it gets hard, you die in one hit.
It's just you, I think. RE 5 was pretty easy. RE 1 and RE 2, now these games were hard back in the day.
Been laying it today, its quite easy it was just that zombie at the start with the hammer,i didnt relize you couldn't kill him.
you can kill everyone and if you want to get all the treasures you need to kill everyone. use a shot gun and run up and punch him when he hunches overBeen laying it today, its quite easy it was just that zombie at the start with the hammer,i didnt relize you couldn't kill him.

The problem a lot of new players run into with the RE series in trying to go backwards from RE4 or 5 (to the classic series) is that those games were never focused on killing everything, you were supposed to avoid coming into contact with the enemy, run AROUND zombies and conserve your ammo and other supplies for when it was truly needed. With the advent of RE4, the entire gameplay shifted over to a shooter mentality, giving the player tons of ammo and supplies to get the job done. So I can see not thinking about running around the Hammer Dude in RE5... The game series is not exactly promoting that sort of thinking, any longer. When RE first came out, the idea of running away was anathema to me and many other gamers... we had to learn to do it, against our instincts of grabbing our weapons and killkillKILL... It would seem that history is, in a way, repeating itself with this Hammer Dude (which I loved in the most recent movie - I don't care what anyone says, those films are FUN!)

thats like me and my brother, when we started we had pistol ammo and we refused to use it, we walked on and found so much ammo we were like erm i guess this level has a lot of ammo lets save some for later we spent our money on the melee weapons so we didn't use too much ammoBefore it came out I played the Resident Evil 5 like crazy so it was easy for me because I got familiar with the controls, some of the enemies, and their tendencies. The level you're on is definitely great practice for the rest of the game. Just keep playing and eventually you'll get the hang of it. As far as that axe-swinging behemoth try to aim for the head as much as possible and when it's stunned give it a few good uppercuts or try to lure it into the yard where there are you can shoot the barrels and it will beengulfed in flames and increasing your chances to defeat it soundly. Good luck!:)
Whoa you think 5 is hard play resident evil 1 or the older resident evils
5 is a piece of cake

I can only hope that the so called reboot (RE6) is going back to the roots.
If you're used to FPSs (can move & shoot at same time) or if you want to kill every bad guy on every level, RE5 may seem like a hard game. And your game play style might be making it harder.
Here are some tips:
-Do not stay in 1 spot too long. Why, the bad guys will get you. I suggest shooting from safe distances & moving to a new location when bad guys getting too close.
-When you do stay in one spot for awhile, do not stand out in the open. Why, out in open bad guys can/will attack you from every angle. I suggest fighting/shooting from isolated locations. Why, choose locations where bad guys are funneled to you from only 1 or 2 directions (easier to defend yourself).
-Do not always try to kill every bad guy. Why, the purpose of every fight is not to kill every bad guy, some fights are a timed survival (stay alive & kill some bad guys- first fight)
-Use the melee attack when possible (when a shot bad guy stumbles, if you are close enough to him, you will get a hit/kick prompt, do it). Why, it conserves ammo (not shooting) & any/every bad guy within striking distance/range will be knocked back or down (good attack on swarm of bad guys- first fight)
-Make sure your guns are loaded & ready before you get to a fight. Why, so you aren't loading your gun while a bad guy is kicking your a--. And share ammo. Why, so neither player gets overwhelmed & dies. Listen to music, fight starts with bad guys music & fight over when music stops.
-Be mindful of your d-pad quick item inventory selections (4 items can be set to be equiped with a 1 button press, choose 4 essential items). Why, so you aren't messing with your inventory while a bad guy is kicking your a--.
Drop me a note if you're looking for someone to play with. Why, I enjoy RE5 (& have mic), I never finished it, & I will not lecture you about how the early RE games were so much harder- they are just different (but I may rave about RE4 a little). I play video games to have fun.

It most likely the controls....it takes some getting use to if you've never played a RE game before. Hopefully Capcom will update the gameplay the next time around.
i didnt find that part that difficult, keep at it and you'll do it, the 180 turns are useful and there is a hidden weapon in that area as well. the only bit i had trouble with was chapter 5-3 in the cave bit..
also dont you get the infinate rpg after completing the game? i used this on my pro run and found that it broke the game..
OMG XD you re getting beaten by him the game didnt get hard for me till like chapter 5-2 because of the lickers and the gun armed zombies, but yeah thats just the first boss fight wait till you get to weskerIs it just me or is resident evil 5 hard, just started playing it never played a RE game before, but am stuck at the start with that big fat zombie with the hammer he always gets me :?
