yeah the partner AI isn't the greatest.. however playing with a friend easily makes up for that.. i would say yay.. but i most certainly say nay to the dlc..
if you have a buddy to play with (through PSN), the game a BLAST! Playing alone is "meh." oh theres A LOT of replay value via unlockables and trophies. I got platinum and i clocked in at around 50-55 hours in.

Though I haven't played it RE5 will be my next purchase when I feel like picking up another game. Im a huge fan of the series, played 1-4 and look forward to getting around to this one.
I would say it's the best $60 I've spent on a game so far! If you're playing with the AI, it's not dumb. You just gotta know how to use her. She's quite competent but you need to know how to use her "commands" wisely. If not, you can screw yourself over. You do need to manage her inventory often but it's no big deal. I normally use her as an extra backpack.
this game is awesome with another player! i will venture THE BEST co-op game play on ps3 yet. my biggest issue: the game is really very short. it can be done in 3 hours with a good partner..
but it does have lot of replayability.. Ive logged a good 30 hours into it with mercs and playing professional and whatnot
Ya but to only a certain extent. I think it once you unlock unlimited ammo on any gun it destroys the game, resident evil needs to return to limited ammo, survival horror...call me old fashion
I think it is pretty fun, playing every one since RE1. You definatly have to manage her inventory on your first run through by yourself, she will quickly expend every bullet you give her, and the classic lack of ammo that doesnt help the situation. Best thing is online so only YOUR wasting your ammo. Only problem I had online is I got the game late, and everyone I joined had already beat it and it was no fun playing like that because you dont get to enjoy searching for things or scrounging for ammo. If you have two controllers get a buddy to play at home, people lacking headsets make it extremely hard to communicate, yelling generic commands like "c'mon" while pointing to something with your laser sight gets old. The only problem I have is being a huge fan, and as previously stated the whole "survivor horror" theme seems to be lost, as you can replay any level while carrying over any weapons and ammo or gold, which in one way is cool, but I remember playing RE2 over and over trying to get under and hour and a half to get unlimited ammo those were the days, I mean it sucked but it was also fun, trying to rush and pausing everytime you needed to remember what to do, or where ammo was for the shotty to kill the Tyrant. Now you just replay a level until you get the time needed to unlock things. Other than that its super awesome!

Of course it's worth the money, and how can the AI be dumb when they're possessed people? lol, that's a bit silly if you ask me. The game is a DEFINITE buy, grab it and enjoy it.
I say nay. Slow paced combat, lots of stupid restrictions in both movement and changing guns with a partner online. $5 dollars just to play a certain type of multiplayer. If Resident Evil is your style, get it. But if that type of game is unappealing (or you've never played before and going really slow with few bullets and a stupid computer AI sounds unappealing) then it might not be for you either.
