I was expecting a 7-8 at least. This is pretty crazy. IGN was a bit nicer with the score but said alot of the same things. Thoughts? Anyone cancelling their order?

Only cost me 20 bucks so I'm gonna keep it. Glad to see Gamespot is really embracing using the entire scale though.I was expecting a 7-8 at least. This is pretty crazy. IGN was a bit nicer with the score but said alot of the same things. Thoughts? Anyone cancelling their order?

Was expecting a 6 haha. Yeah I just lost interest in Resident Evil, and I was never excited for this one. I might buy it when it drops to below 20 bucks, or I might just watch some youtube playthroughs.
After reading both reviews I may just take my $65 to the bar and watch the football game tonight and just throw RE6 on my gamefly Q. Bummer, but if this game is really a chore to get through as they say I know I won't play it twice.
I'm not surprised at all. IMO Resident Evil's decline began with 4. Prior to that the series was legitimate survival horror but gradually it evolved into something that would appease a generation of ADHD COD enthusiasts.

Agreed, I expected a low score after playing the demo but I am a "LITTLE" shocked it got a 4.5.....wow!! Well it looks like Dead Space and Silent Hill are top dogs of the survival/action horror platform now!!!
I saw this coming. Hopefully the devs for RE and even other games will think twice before not listening to their core fanbase and causlizing their franchise.

Expect another 4.5 for Dead Space 3. Although I don't like the more action oriented direction Dead Space 3 (or should I say Gears of Lost Planet 3) is taking, the core mechanics (controls and what not) look strong, so even if I don't personally like the direction I don't think anyone can say the game is broken. Resident Evil 6 on the other hand was littered with wonky controls, cover system, camera, movement, and an overabundance of QTEs which is why it got the score. Kevin even stated in his review. A series changing direction isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when it doesn't know which direction to go and just pours in everything and executes poorly, you get a game like Resident Evil 6.

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. Some of these companies are basing success off of other franchises, and in doing so they dispose of creativity and adopt unoriginality.
RE is no longer memorable. ORC was a huge miss and adding this to its arsenal you would hope they would learn from their mistakes. The less support Capcom receives from this franchise, the greater the possibility of them returning to survival horror.
I'm also staring intently at Square Enix.
I bought this game friday its really good nowhere near a 4.5 im shocked gamespot gave it such a low score never gonna take their reviews seriously no more after this ign gave it around what i would give it around 8-8.5 this game is fun with interesting story. DONT PAY ATTNTION TO THIS REVIEW WORST REVIEW EVER
I will admit that I wasn't to keen on the demo but a 4.5 is he just trying to get noticed or is it just how bad the game is. I guess I will see for myself when I get it.
And I thought Operation Raccoon City was an all time low for the series.... I am very surprised about this score. RE4 was an all time great game. RE5 was pretty good but not as good as RE4.
Sad to the series come to this. I feel bad for the people who preordered this game. The trailer looked pretty good.
That was a very different time for Capcom. How the mighty have fallen.I'm surprised as well, didn't RE4 get game of the year with a 9.6?

Kevin's review was great and clearly pointed out all the major flaws of this game, although I feel the game should at least have gotten a 6.0/6.5. Seems all the negativity and early hate that surrounded it affected it's score. Nevertheless, the only sure thing is that Crapcom just killed one of the most legendary franchises in videogame history. If they even release a RE7, which I highly doubt, because trust me, this game's not gonna sell as expected, it's only gonna get worse...
Resident Evil Revelations scored an 8.5 shows it can still be done it's a great title. The series just needs to remember what it is and not try to be what it is.
I'm glad it got a score it deserved, I can't believe people like it if they ever played RE4 or RE5. The gunplay is weak and horrible, the visuals are poor (RE5 was visually amazing, still is) and there's loads of other things I read in the review that sound frustrating. I gave up with hope as soon as I saw the first gameplay trailer.
I checked out the metacritic score (20 critics) and it got a 77 metascore. Game Informer gave it a 88... IGN gave it a 79... EGM gave it a 85.
That is way off from the 4.5 gamespot score which was way lower than compared to the rest. Gamespot appears to be way off from the rest of the critics.
It has to be much better than RE: Operation Raccoon City (52 metascore).
dont deserve 4.5 but i dont care CTR360
It definitely doesn't deserve a 4.5 score.... It has a 77 metascore from 20 critics. This is why I prefer to look at a ton of critics and user scores rather than 1 reviewer. I am interested in it but it isn't a must buy right now for me.
Beware, cause if you look the metacritic score the Xbox version is lower (67).
The difference is cause some only reviewed it on the 360, and most of them were negative reviews., for instance destructoid
Also bear in mind that a score is just that a score. To get an insight one must really read the review. And the only ones that gave a great score or even average (IGN) didn't mind or speak about the bad control/camera. The ones that gave a bad score mention it as being important in their ultimate score.
Now think about this, you have an action game, but with bad cover sytem, aiming, dodge and camera and you get a bad below par action game.
Should you really rate it above 6.0 ? Plus add to it repetiveness, pacing issues, .....
It's not a problem of RE not being survival/horror. It's a problem of being a bad action game, with issues and errors unfit for an AAA game with this budget and a series of the importance of RE.
Resident Evil 4 was amazing on the PS2
Resident Evil 5 kinda sucked and was huge let down.
Resident Evil 6 there is no way I am wasting money on a game that got a bad review after RE5 sucked too.
What is wrong with Capcom? The need to make an awesome game like Onimusha.
Being a long time Gamespot member and I have vouched for Kevin's many reviews as very accurate and to the point, I can't help but to feel little off on RE6 review. Granted I haven't played the full game, however I had a decently good time with Leon Demo campaign and I had no problems with more Third Person Action oriented Chris Demo campaign either.
Personally, I would had been very happy is Capcom had given me a more immerse and superb RE4 game instead but what the RE6 Demo offered, I would rate it at least 7-7.5.
Then again you have to keep in mind demo is never a representation of a full product and it didn't really have heavy use of action buttons and quick time events. That I have no doubt would make the game very irritating if abused constantly.
I'll proceed with caution on this one, when it hits 20$ mark because I at least wish to experience Leonstory which wasn't bad at all in the demo itself.
Hopefully Capcom is listening to the fans of the old series.

But thats not the point the reviewer is getting at, it's ment to be RESIDENT EVIL, not a third person shooter, all there doing is making a shooter and using the name what was once a highly respected survival horror franchise, the reason i played RE1 RE2 was for the fact that i had to survive and with only the minimum supplies, in secluded places, and he even says it in the review it's not a bad game it's just not any good for a resi game. stop going off the scores and read the reviews for once.
The game is way too hyped not to be bought. So people will buy and then the'll say it was good. And then Capcom will do another one just the same and then people will buy that one too. It is possible to have fun with most games out there if you don't know the difference so...

Is that what people did Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City? No. Did anyone ever admit to liking that game? Everyone hated that game.

Umm...compared to a lot of games this year...it overall wasn't all that Hyped up. Maybe a little bit, but it was overshadowed by a lot of other games. And that's a SHAME! i say...a SHAME!!!
And with the multiple experiences, it's definitely not the same thing.
