[QUOTE="MorbidToaster"]I sure hope it's a full reboot, because 5 is garbage. RE 4 was great, I just can't stand 5...DirkXXVI
I guess everyones entitled to their opinion but I respectfully disagree. I always played Resident Evil because the story intrigued me. When 4 came along I couldn't believe how far they dropped off in quality with respect to the story, especially after ReMake seemed to prove that Capcom was capable of producing good dialog. In fact it looks like Capcom really took a lot of the feedback they got from 4's dialog to heart and instead put a lot of effort into producing a great story. I think that everyone that liked four mainly found enjoyment in the gameplay which to me felt a little repetitive after a while. Plus without a story to drive me on the gameplay wore thin on me to the point where it felt way to repetive. In short it felt like Capcom approached Paul W.S. Anderson about writing the story for RE4. I mean it has all the elements that make up a Resident Evil Movie.
-Overpowered non-chalant characters
- Little to do with the existing Resident Evil universe
- Predictable plot (seriously if Ashley had died the plot itself would have easily uped itself a grade or two)
- Lifeless enemies (and I'm not talking about the Zombies of the Ganados).
- Total character assasination of a series favorite (in this case Leon even though a handful would disagree).
I definately will be the first to admit that after 0 Capcom needed to take the series in a new direction though I wish they had stuck more with the horror element. And to anyone who thinks zombies can't be scary, play ReMake and then tell me how calm you are when a Crimson head is charging at you full speed in the distance while you have no idea where he is. Then compare that to the villagers who run at you but then stop and give you a chance to aim.
As far as this reboot is concerned what does everyone think it applies to. Is it going to be a completely new story, or will it's focus mainly be on a new style of gameplay? I have trouble believing that they can extend the current storyline much farther, unless of course they're able to produce a new villan that will eventually be comprable to Wesker. And no Sadler is not an excuse, if I get my way his only appearence in RE5 will be through flashbacks. Still with 5 they seem to be cashing in quite a handful of loose ends, but from the trailers it looks like it's all going to be worth it.
Agreed. I had always known the controls were lame, can't deny it, but it didn't matter... I've never complained about the controls or the new changes. The stories have always been heavy and eventful. Though the reason why I prefer the old ones is because in RE4 and RE5 these both seem to kind of have this cheesiness to them, heh. I don't know how to explain it... for explain, like in Resident Evil 0 during the first hour or so in the train. Billy dives and shoots a leech in the middle of the air. When I saw that I laughed so hard in disbelief.
