Sorry guys, but I don't find this impressive. There should be a Resident Evil game that is developed for the PSP. It could be a remake or spinoff, I don't care anymore, but a downloadable PS1 game won't cut it. Right now the PSP is the only Sony system that has no RE game developed for it.
I agree with Darth Tic Tac, that they should make a Resident Evil game for PSP, but I don't mind them releasing it on PSN. I just hope that, in the future, they plan to create/re-create a Resident Evil game. I can see them remaking Resident Evil 4 (PSP Edition) and I can see the very first part, walking up to the house and thentheguyswinging the axe at you. Now that would be fun!!
And btw they should have released RE 2 and 3 on PSN too.

Next Week. I'm sure they are stretching it out... dole out a little at a time and keep the anticipation high. I know i personally checked the PSN at 12:01am on Thursday to see if anything new had turned up. I think that what we'll see is a version of RE2 come next, and then the dreaded "Nemesis" a week or two after that interspersed with other "classics" like "Rainbow Six" rated a big 3.7 out of 10 here on GS or "Ford Racing" which no one wanted the FIRST time around... perhaps the original "Silent Hill" a week or a month before the 're-imagining' hits stores... they are gonna trickle the titles out to keep you coming back. If you look at the wiki for the Japanese PSN, they have a ton of games ready for the system with nothing but a license fee to be paid. The program conversions are already done ofr the hardware, they just need the rights to distribute on NA soil in the PSP format (the same way film producers license films for distrobution, exhibition, television, and home video sales - The same hoops which kept some films from making the jump to DVD from VHS or LaserDisc).
As far as the mark-up, that stopped me from instantly downloading the "RE-DC" last night because I don't understand where they get the balls. $5.99, Sony... these are OLD GAMES with OLD GRAPHICS that we have already paid for once in our lives, stop tryingto take me for a ride in harsh economic conditions (I've been largely unemployed since last September, I don't know about the rest of you). I bought "Twisted Metal 2" because there's no finer game in the series and the price was right... but because I own RE on DS, NGC, and possibly one more consoleI have forgotten, Iam not sparked by this at all.
When they drop the price I'll buy. I can almost justify the $8 for "flOw" more than I can plunk down $10 for a game I own three-times-over already. I know i said I would buy it no questions asked a few weeks ago on these very forums, but Sony has once again figured how to float a turd in an otherwise tempting punch bowl.
Sure a new resident evil for PSP would be great. So would a few more well known RE titles other than the Director's Cut. But seeing as how it's been this long to get any RE whatsoever on the PSP, I'm not going to let what I still want, ruin what I already have.
Sony's a massive company. Expecting that they would look out for the little guy and not take advantage of a price markup on a product they know people will pay for is just setting yourself up for failure. Did it with Castlevania, obviously there going to do it with RE. Bet 2 and Nemesis will be 9.99 as well. Just the way it is.
But jeez guys way to turn this thread negative. :(

Just like how Spyro 2 was released one week and Spyro 3 the next. Perhaps this is truly the start of a large scale PS1 uptick on PSN.
Oh take your clothes off and start dancing... I'll join ya next week when RE2 turns out on the PSN... I didn't mean to take your excitement level to nil. I'm very happy that they've finally done it. Now, we just need to negotiate on price, ala the iPhone Apps store. They'll charge out hard and when they need to they'll drop the price... I'm a patient gamer. Plus, like i said, I already have the game. If you are missing it from your collection then today should SURELY be a day of partyin' down and celebrating Sony America finally getting their heads out of their butts long enough to listen to a few of us users.
As far as a NEW RE title, I would be all in favor of it, but in the meantime if you haven't played through these classics then you really ought to, and being a first-timer you can get $10 worth out of the download, for sure... but I know every inch of that mansion and what's below it better than i could locate things in my own apartment, I've played it so many times.
It's THAT good, and none of the nay-sayers on this forum can ever change said fact. "Resident Evil" is like "Doom", "Super Mario Brothers", "Tetris", "Half-Life", and other games which are so classic that you really gotta play through them to call yourself a gamer. I played through two "Final Fantasy" titles because I felt like I needed to understand the devotion... I think "Resident Evil" ranks right up there in historical importance.

i wouldnt count on it
the japanese psn stretched out RE releases 1 year
RE1 - NOV22 2006
RE2 - DEC26 2007
RE3 - DEC24 2008
and taking in account the english/european ps one classic releases
i hope that at E3 they announce a giant new interest in adding games to PSN
cause its ridiciouls that we only got 36 PS1 games (and i think europes got fewer)
edit: oh and i forgot why i came into this thread
just got resident evil: directors cut and it is FANTASTIC
never beat re1 and im glad i finally will (and i will, even tho i have the classic and directors cut on ps1, yet never had)
PS1 games on the PSP is AWESOME!!!
thats why i get so angry
WHY SO FEW PS1 TITLES!?!
Well , i already have Deadly Silence for DS so i will wait for RE 2 and 3 , if they ever get available on PSN. I just want to remind that Japan has these games years now. I just want to ask : This is just for the American PSN or and the European ?
aggelos6
Deadly Silence is the same as this, right? I don't have my debit card at the moment, access to a PSN account, and don't really like how the PSP handles PS1 titles. If I were to play this game, It'd probably be in my best interest to get the other version. I'll wait for a RE title that's made specifically for the PSP.

For all intents and purposes, "Deadly Silence" is a port of the original PS1 game. There are a few added features, and a second screen allows for a map to be displayed all the time which is much handier than it sounds, the touch screen makes inventory handling a breeze, and there is a better action on using the knife I think (it's more effective)... it's the same game with all of the same stuff and all of the same unlockables, and an "Action" version you can unlock which is more ammo & killing-centered than all the puzzles and stuff the first time around... yes. I believe this version for the PSP may have a lot of that too. But if you own the DS version you're not missing anything desperately. My "wallet" contents will be held out for RE2.

Yeah I think the only real differences are the extra modes (as far as the PSP version having something the other doesn't goes). Also DS was ported from the original RE1 as Ston3y already mentioned. ^
The PSP/PS3 download is the dual shock version of RE: Director's Cut. Pretty sure it's only on the NA and JP PSN at the moment. Capcom claimed on this version having the bits the ESRB made them sensor out back in the day, but I've yet to see them. Hope it isn't all a load a bull.
Handles a bit better on the handheld imo, but maybe thats just because it looks sharper. Fun game none the less.

Dub post.
Oh the party has already begun sir. And the neighbors will never be the same again.
Note the Gamespot account overhaul
Pulled out the old copy of Nemesis and figure if I can't track down a version of RE2 before finishing RE1 (and moving on to 3) then I'm no RE fan at all. :D
If Sony has anything in those iced over hearts of theirs we'll be seeing number 2 this coming thursday. Wouldn't hold your breath though.
