Yah there is, that level you go through the house/apt.
There certain places in bounds where you need it in online for a short while. If you glitch and mangage to get out of bounds in some places such as the Mall then you will need it.
if the feature wasn't there, you would be on here complaining about how you wish you had a flashlight for that one part of the game where it is a little dark. if it is so useless, don't use it. i've used it a couple of times and found it to help make the gameplay that much more detailed.

All of you that never used the flashlight in resistance obviously have some gamma-level adjusting to do on your TVs. Apparently, you all have your brightness set way too high. There are plenty of places in Resistance where it is fairly dark and using the flashlight helps you look for hidden items or just make your way through areas. There are tons of places online that the flashlight is useful. Manchester buildings, darker part of lexington interior, hangar, just to mention a few. BTW...reports indicate that flashlights are not detected by opposing players while playing online. If you have issues seeing, use it, noone will notice yours is on.
lol - I hope you don't think more than 15% of the people here have re-calibrated their tv's from the default settings - agree with your post is the point. I used it several times - like having it and if others can't detect it why not have it.........

Sad. If you manage to get out of bounds in a ranked game your acdtually a loser with a flashlight.
