Statement One: Without Halo, the Xbox would be nothing. True

Statement Two: Without Resistance, Playstation would be nothing. False

Therefore, no, Resistance is not the PS3's Halo. Playstation consoles have more than one game worth owning the system for.

EDIT: Although this might change this gen, as the Xbox gains more of the Playstations previous exclusives and timed exclusives (DMC, GTA, etc.)

If Resistance were as graphically impressive, I'd agree. It is the PS3's best game now but it is not the game that makes people run out and buy the system.

but i dunno. most people i know Bought the PS3 because of MGS4 and and Final Fantasy games. so for them. the FF and MGS' series must be the PS3's halo

Resistance is great, but I wouldn't buy a PS3 just for it.

Iam glad there isn't one game that makes me want a PS3, because if iam going in and buying something for 400 dollars just so i can play one 60 dollar game which is way to over hyped, is just sad, that's why MS is shelling out so much money to make games or steal games, because they know all they really truly have is Halo, MS if anything needs to work on making their own great 1st party games besides Halo (GeOW not a first party game) and stop trying to steal exclusives unless that all their capable of.

i dont agree resistance is the xbox's halo, its great on its own and it certainly didnt make me go and purchase a PS3.

i bought my ps3 for formula 1 > other games are great, but THIS ONE is the one that caught me eye to the ps3

WHAT?!?  After 80 hours of gametime, I got bored.  WTF.

Now, back to topic.  It depends how you look at it.  Gameplay wise, it's not PS3's Halo,  it has a touch of halo, but in Resistance, there is a big difference playing as a human or a chimera unlike halo.  Weapons are more "out of this world" than halo.

Popularity wise, well... If Resistance: Fall of man community keeps growing after a full year and more, than... Yes, I guess.

Correct. After owning the first Xbox, i was completely disappointed. Played gears of war and its an updated version of kill.Switch. Not impressed.

As stated above, GOW isn't a first party game

And fable was overhyped. It didn't live up to the promises in my opinion. It was just another game.  KoTOR was better in my opinion. It had the same dark/light aspect but was better presented.

firstly i think anyone who posts "discuss" without adding their opinion or any type of reason behind the thread is a bit thick.  secondly ps3 only relies on resistance at launch/ at the moment for a good online shooter. xbox360 is about 70% based on people wanting to play halo3. resistance is better then halo in my opinion. halo2 was very boring and repetitive, atleast resistance has some nice open areas for larger battles.

I bought my ps3 from launch and its not only because of one game, but because it will have a great library, I promise u one thing sony has over the competition and that is it will have the best library of games, just give it 2 years and once devs start knowing how to use the hardware and making it easyer for them to make games for the ps3, sony will have a game for every genre of gaming for every gamer out there and sony will add different type games that will bring new genre's of gaming to the table which is why I think sony will set them selves apart from the pack again.

Oh geez, obviously the PS3 is the only system that allows you to play Resistance.

I'm just saying using Oblivion as an example is not a good arguement since you can play it on 360, and it won't cost you as much since that system is 200 or 300 dollars cheaper. (now that the 20gb model is off the market)
