This feels like déjà vu... A really bad case of déjà vu
Last week, I had the pleasure of unveiling our planned release date of June 7th for the Resistance: Fall of Man map packs and content update. That was on May 31st, the last day of May and the date we (SCEA and Insomniac) had promised when we unveiled this waive of DL content.
On that June 7th release date, I have some unfortunate news to share. During our final testing of the global server, which removes regional play restrictions for those who want some international flair in the multiplayer experience, a few last minute issues have come up. Despite some extremely long hours by all those involved, the unfortunate fact remains that we cannot resolve these issues prior to our announced launch date. And, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, neither SCEA nor Insomniac wants to release something to our ever-growing community which will impede the experience.
Hence the déjà vu feeling mentioned above.
The one bit of good news is these issues are NOT related to the content update or map packs themselves, and both have cleared format QA groups worldwide. In other words, everything is ready to go from the game side; we just have some kinks to iron out to complete the integration of our global community. Rather than announce a new date at this time, I want to see these issues resolved first to prevent any more cases of déjà vu on this topic.
What I can promise are two things: first, this last delay won't be too long. Second, once it is out and you have a chance to play the new maps or your buddies from across the world, you'll be happy we took the time to get this right.

omg if the maps work let them come out this is bullsh** im sick of everything come out late rlly what has came out on time i mean the ps3 for gods sake didnt even come out on time and look at ubisoft they havnt had a game come out for this ps3 yet i mean i love my ps3 and all but im gettin so sick of this delay delay delay stuff i mean resistance was the only thing that i thought i could count on but guess not err im pi**ed
Lol they might cancel the update for all I care. Little do they know that delaying again and again only makes people to lose interest, going for other games instead.
Yeah I had a blast playing Resistance and was really excited when the new maps were confirmed, but I can't keep playing the same old game again and again.
Same thing happened with Rainbow 6 Vegas, all the delays got me uninterested.
Agree with unknown - why aren't the maps released through the PSN store and the rest as a patch etc later....... Not sure why the two are so tied together - if they are an explanation would be nice if not then get moving.......

Nope $8.00 I heard. When I heard of the Motorstorm update delay I didn't mind.. but this just ticks me off.. me and my clan wanted to play some new maps :(

Welcome to the world of DLC. This happens CONSTANTLY on the 360. MS finally learned their lesson to only announce something like a day or two before it comes out. Even then, they run into problems sometimes.

Well, yes, but it was not just supposed to be the maps. Worldwide servers were supposed to open today, allowing a global unification of gamers across the planet. This is revolutionary in my opinion, I can see it being incredibly difficult to do, I am ticked at the delays as a Resistance player, but I can cut them some slack for trying something so difficult, anyone would hit a few snags.
