They can't remove the game. Its that simple because they would probably be required to take the online off and then whoever made Resistance would want a certain dollar amount since they won't be able to sell there game. I hate to see Sony go to court over some BS like this. Its not like in movies that you have not seen people fighting and gun shooting but its not ok for it to be in videogames?
Anyway I'm wondering how much money the church has because they are talking about a possibley a big law suit which would probably require some series money to just get things started. And I can't see sony just paying them.
Honestly, this is corruption people, the Church is after money right here, plain and simple
why the hell would they care if a virtual representation of their church is in a video game
honestly who gives a crap, pure BS, how could the church be so greedy, its disgusting
R-Dot-Yung
In order to make money in the court of law you have to be willing to spend money unless the church finds lawyers that will do the work for free which is very doubtful seeing as its just not the lawyer way.
My GOD, sorry but these people are sooooooooo stupid!!!!!
Put a little violence in a video game and it's horrible, but they never once mention the violence in their favorite movies or TV shows.
"We are shocked to see..." Hell, I never even heard of the place nor do I care. But I did love the game.
Everbody's suing Sony for anything cuz they all wanna make a big bucks, this is a bunch of crap, I dont care even if theyre church people or not..... get a job!
^ I really don't know about saying God and Jesus are also behind this, but...
I want to know if they are that serious about their religion, why play this game? And get far enough to see that.
That would be so freaking stupid. We can't even count the number of other video games or movies featuring a known place, even churches, and no one made a drama out of it.
Furthermore, RFOM does NOTHING bad agaisnt the church, it just happens that soldiers used it as a place to take care of the injured, as proven by the various bed and medical equipments. The same would happen in a real war. The game doesn't do ANYTHING agaisnt faith or God, so what is their problem?
If everyone was as stupid as them, there would be no video games taking place on earth because all those games use real places to make the story more real. Most films do the same.
A GAME that has a church in it for like 3 minutes is "irresponsible", yet keeping paedophiles covered up in the church is perfectly not so...Well I'll be damned:roll:
How does it promote people to go and have "gun battles"? Don't know about the other 600,000+ people who own the game but I certainly never got the urge to get a gun that isn't in existence, go to a alternate reality and then shoot up a church full of mutants - But that's just me.
This is the exact reason I no longer attend church. I believe that most churchs have become corrupt and god would be appalled by actions like these plain and simple.gundamfan80
The world is corrupt not only the churches. This law suit is dumb and it gets me angry that this Church is looking to get its claws on money, they are greedy. Whatever happened to turning the other cheack?

exactly my point. They threaten to raise there hand against sony despite sony not having tried to do them any harm.

Seriously, welcome to modern society a time rich with frivalous lawsuits.. This is so ridiculous.

Very good point. The church was obviously used as a location for healing, and was attacked by the chimera. No disrespect to the lord or christianity. At least there was no intent of disrespect, at least in my eyes.
But it is a multiplayer level, maybe that is the percieved threat? Don't get me wrong it's still a ludacris lawsuit.

Lol at all the posts above. This is why I probably won't attend church when I get out of my mother's house. If I wanted Hypercrisy, I'd go to the X-box fanboy side. lol. Jk.
Sorry but god, jesus and the church of england are fighting a losing battle... Resistance isnt going anywhere... Dahaka-UK
LOL!
So if monsters that want to destroy humanity come to my local church, I cant kill them?! WTF?! If an Omen was in my church, I would kill it, how is said omen much different than an evil monster/alien/zombie race?CraigJK
Good point this is such a dumb reason to try and sue SONY but it seems like just about anyone wit something would try and sue them... i can not believe this nonsense now-a-days i hope the ps3 does not fall lol
i agree with the church. that game made me want to go to that churchand shoot some guns in it.
lol just kidding
Suing because there was a scene involving their church in a video game?
OMG I better burn the tape of a video I took of our local church and take it off my blog. They might sue my ass, I didn't ask for permission.
Seriously, this is just plain stupid.
Man this suit would go down in FLAMES. Think of all the churches in movies! 28 days later, it gets infested with zombies and they have a bloody gun battle in there! Think of all the other people who could sue! All the restaurants could sue because of the gun and fighting battles in there over the years, they'd get trillions! And think of the municipalities, how many cities have bee used as staging grounds for games! Imagine all the WWII vets who'd get money from all the WWII games that trivialize war and turn it into entertainment!
If this suit doesn't get dismissed, then the legal system is truly pathetic.
I would have never even made that connection unless I had gone there and for some reason noticed it. And even if I did I can expect I would have thought "Oh, cool" and thats it. Now that the church is considering legal action... it MAKES me want to blow something up (not really). Its so frustrating to see this crap. From a person who already has no faith in this sort of religion it only lowers my opinion of them.
Its a sad sad day when a church, especially a well-respected and established church, decides to sue anybody. Whats the saying go? "To forgive is to be divine"?
Also, I was curious about how the article said the area has a gun problem? Is that true? I thought England in general was extremely safe with low violent crime counts. Or am I completely mistaken. That report should come visit Richmand, California before saying a place has a "gun problem."
OMG The Jack Thompson Stupidity Virus has spread! get your Hazmac Suits and head for the Bunker!!!!!

Its a lot easier to be an idiot and side with the absolutes than it is to be reasonable these days. Sure there is a way to make a compromise, but who wants to go to the trouble of doing that....
If this really was an issue then wouldn't it have made a hell of a lot more sense to do when the game came out, like 7 months ago? ITscrap like this that makes me proud i'm not a christian :)
I'm imagining the priest (or who ever is in charge of the church) playing Resistance :
Priest - DIE YOU CHIEMERA SOBs!!!
*7.1 surround sound kicks in *
Priest - MUAHHAHAH!! DIE!!!
*People stare with a face of shock*
*Priest notice is being watched*
Priest - cough cough. Sorry my children I was only...hummmm... evaluating the hummmm.....how good did they reproduced our church in the game...
Church people - you are are going sue them?
Priest - HELL NO! This game rules and....*looks at people face of schock* yes I'm going to sue.
This is a stupid thing. They just want the money. simple as that.
ppl killing ppl in movies are actorsThey can't remove the game.
