both games are good and worth playing, but here's my take on this

resistance:

+ good story

+ long single player campaign

+ great replaybility

+ smooth online experience

- graphic may be lacking for some, although art design is still very good

call of duty 4:

+ great single player campaign

+ awesome set pieces

+ great graphics

+ multiplayer is fast and fun

- short single player

conclusion:

I'd say get call of duty 4 for now. I have a feeling Resistance will have a price drop nearing Resistance release, so get Resistance 1 later. resistance is a better valueif you prefer single player game than multiplayer game since it's longer very good. but call of duty single player is exceed expectation with its set pieces that imo, all gamer should play even if they hate fps. downside is, that's it's short, although very satisfying overall. both online game is fun, although cod is a faster more arcadey experience imo. kinda similar with counter strike multiplayer actually, so if you like that type of multiplayer, you'll love cod online

I know a lot of people who say that getting an online game for COD4 can take up to half an hour, and I've even heard of system failures while people play that game, so Im staying away from it . although the game does have amazing graphics, and a very tactical realistic feal to it.... Resistance is more fast paced, but less realistic, but an awesome multiplayer game on and offline. Resistance 2 is on the horizon, with a 60 player online experience, new weapons, specialized classes, and more... I'd have to say resistance is the superior, and playstation exclusive, game.

They are both quite differnet,
Resistance will have WAY bigger multiplayer battles, up to 40 players as opposed to only 16.
it has good coop and gameplay too.

COD4 will have the edge on graphics and intenseness, it's a lot of fun but is unlike resistance in it's fight against humans instead of the chimera. It's a modern war.

so, uhm... go and get both of them :D you won't be disappointed esp, if you're a fps fan.

I've seen resistence a lot cheaper than COD4, could just be near me though...

Expect mostly CoD4 responses, but still get RFoM because it's an excellent game... and the sequel is looking really tight (more than CoD4 if I may add)

Wow, that's a tough one. If you HAD to get one for now:

Get Resistance if you want a long single player campaign and 2 player co-op options. The multiplayer online is great but not as great as COD4

Get COD4 if you want amazing graphics and very intense online experience with alot of options. The single player is great but is very short and not as replayable IMO as the Resistance single player.

Resistance has a a great single player, but the online play sucks. I would go with COF 4 for the multiplayer cause you can play that forever and its amazing. Its addicting. The single player is short though but its action packed.

Resistance for me.

I enjoyed everything much more in Resistance, from the single player, to the story, to the online play, to the weapons, and the style of play. That's not to say I didn't like CoD4, but for me, Resistance is where it's at.

Resistance. The single player campaign is much longer and you can play co-op offline as well. COD 4 looks amazing, but it is very short for the single player. And Resistance should be cheaper, possibly much cheaper in a few months if the rumored greatest hits collection comes out.
