I'm still hesitant to get this game. I like my JRPGs but the battle system looks pretty odd and have heard it's a very grindfest type of game. Is combat all based on guns? How long is story mode?

I tried it a bit and its fun. If you like strategy and a challenge then go for it. Basically the better your strategy the less you would have to level up I think. Similar to Valkyria Chronicles.

I see where you come from, similar to Valkyrie Chronicles. I downloaded the demo and didn't interest me at all. Even anything remotely similar wouldn't take my interest. From that said, I probabaly wouldn't enjoy this game.
Cheers,

It is a grindfest. The combat gets old after 10-15 hours of doing the same old thing.

It's the 2nd best RPG on the PS3 right behind Valkyria Chronicles. The combat is based on guns, but just the whole concept of the battles is really fun and unique. It's a pretty long game which can most likely net you 40-80 hours depending on much you actually do.

Resonance of Fate is a great game.

yokofox33

it is the 3rd best RPG on the PS3 behind Demons's Souls and Valkyria Chronicles.

But the combat is extremely well done it takes a while to learn and get used to but once you learn it it's very rewarding. As for everyone saying it is a grind fest I never found myself having to grind. I just went through and completed all of the side quest in every chapter and I never had a problem. The bosses can be a little to difficult sometimes but i've always managed to find a good strategy to beat them.

the only grindng required is with the arena trophy. But it is less annoying if you do them when they get unlocked instead of waiting at the end of the game.
