How is this game? In terms of game play, leveling, customisations?
I've checked a few videos out but the battle system still looks weird as anything, and at the same time interests me as it's something different. Are there many towns to explore?

Yes, it's different. Very different in fact.
I found the story very bad, the first 70% of the game felt like a filler and the rest was meh at best. That being said, it's probably the only bad part of the game.
The customization was sweet, you can change the appearance of every character and you can add and remove parts for each weapon. Customizing the weapons was my favorite part of the game, you get a weight limit and depending on it you add parts that increase damage, ammo, accuracy, etc.
Leveling was weird, but easy to understand. The more you use a weapon the higher your level with that weapon gets. There are 3 weapons in total, and I believe the max level for each one is 100.
Now gameplay is where it gets tricky. I finished the game and I still couldn't fully understand how I should have played it. Until 10 hours into the game in fact I did not understand a damn thing about it. It's strategic, weird and difficult. It'll take time to understand and even then, it's just not easy.
As for towns, there are few of them with nice shops and side quests.
its a good game but gameplay is really confusing i went through the tutorials and im still confused o_0
oh the VA for Drake from Uncharted voices one of the main character which is awesome XD
The story is vague, the graphics are dull and the gameplay gets repetitive very fast ( mostly because there are only three kinds of weapons: pistols, submachine guns and grenades ).
The only things I liked were the music and some very funny cutscenes.
I never got very far, I felt as if the game focused too much on the combat. The fights are long and can be tricky, it feels rather repetitive but what really put me off was the severe lack of cutscenes. The grid system felt boring and even though I found a whole lot of places, they all just seemed to be unavailable. Can't say I liked this game that much.
I didn't really get past the third chapter; it was really grind heavy, which I don't usually mind, but it didn't really strike a chord with me. The story didn't move along quickly enough and whilst the combat system was really fun, it was also very punishing.
Edit; That being said, I'd like to give it a chance again.
It's a terrible game. All flash and no substance. Battles look amazing but are hilariously unbalanced either you win in like one turn or get stomped. Story is terrible, gore nowhere and has seriously cheesy dialogue.
It had a lot of promise but just failed on most levels for me.
Yeah same here. I'm like on the 3rd or 4th chapter, and it's been that way since August last year. I should really give it another spin.I didn't really get past the third chapter; it was really grind heavy, which I don't usually mind, but it didn't really strike a chord with me. This. You'll only get a feel of how you're suppose to play the game when the difficulty actually ramps up (or, in my case, when I decided to do the extra OPTIONAL hard dungeon in the end) b/c in that way you're almost forced to use Guard breaks and the 2 types of damage (i forgot all the terms already, as you can see).
Reference? I platinumed the game.
