Resonance of Fate GS Review - 8.5!

I'm absolutely stoked about this score. We have another hidden gem to add to the PS3 library (and to the other console's library as well). I knew this game would turn out to be Valkyria Chronicles 2.0. Just a shame Sega screwed up by releasing it so close to FF13 and GOW3. And then not even sending review copies to media outlets on time. Good for RoF though. Awesome score!

This is the game you've been waiting for, Scianix. You said you wanted a challenge, and this game will bring it hard. Apparently the story is pretty rad as well. It has towns, armor, weapons, etc. You can even customize clothes! I'm so excited to play this game.

Oh, and tomorrow we're rocking Borderlands. Be ready. My level 5 Brick is raging for some action!

Most excellent - you've got me stoked just with the mention of customizable clothing. Definitely will check it out early tomorrow - looking forward to that Borderlands game, too.

Ahh that is why we didn't see the review on time, and yes, this game is awesome so far, but still not Valkyria Chronicles level(for me at leat ;P).

Ive been slowly keeping my eye on this title, but totally forgot it got released, amongst heavy rain, GoW3, FF13 and Pokemon HG/SS on the DS. I must have just left it in the back of my mind! Sorry! haha.

I might pick it up soonish when i get some time during these holidays :). 8.5 score and that metacritic is giving me hope that this is one good sleeper hit JRPG i shouldnt miss.

Aye, great game indeed. Sega is publishing us many great games lately VC, Bayonetta, Yakuza 3 and RoF. They seem to have an eye for games. Maybe Tri-Ace is much better partnering with Sega.

Played the demo, did not see anything special about it.

Character Design was ok, the enemies were horrible though..

Fighting System (in demo) wasn't as fun as in FFXIII.. Guess this needs more looking into :)

I will rent it.. Overall Critic Score seems fair and just as I would've expected it, but 8.5 at GS? Not that they are reliable..

but I will try for myself again. The horrible Demo may've been wrong..

I'm somewhat interested in the game, but I have serious doubts which will probably lead to me waiting until it gets cheap and buy it used.

From everything I've read/seen, the story is pretty much nonexistent until close to the end of the game, and the characters don't really interest me (at least not from what I've seen in videos; some of the voice acting made me cringe). And the story and characters are really the main reasons why I play RPGs. Supposedly, it's just a lot of missions that have no impact on the story until the end. But I haven't played it, so I don't know how accurate any of what I just said is.

The battle system looks unique to say the least, but I'm not sure how I'd enjoy it.

I still need to pick up White Knight Chronicles and Star Ocean 4. ;/ So many games.

And it's incredibly simple from what you can play, but apparently the game itself is hard. If the game really is 8.5 material, then the demo didn't do it justice.

You're right. The demo was pretty bleh, but I also attribute that to being entirely in Japanese. I probably would have liked it better if I fully understood what was going on. The music was also kind of drab until your HP turned into critical.

I might get it when it comes down cheap.

Sega have been making some pretty damn good games lately. You'd expect the same quality of their frikkin mascot. . .

As soon as I beat FFXIII I will be getting this game.

I'm a hardcore FF fan, but I love it when a new RPG appears with franchise potential. It seems cool, but tri-ace seem to...kinda lack a bit lately. I mean, SO3 and 4 were good, but had their share of problems, many of which remained from SO3 and were repeated in SO4. RoF looks to be a step in the right direction, but it just seems to be missing something. I dunno, it's a tri-ace trait apparently. Still, look forward to playing it.

Well, Sega only published RoF, tri-ace developed it. But yeah, agreed about Sonic, though his new Karter is pretty fun, not gonna lie. It's not a Mario Kart killer, but pretty awesome all the same.
