I just bought this game last night, popped it in today for the first time and wasn't able to get through this "retrieving license agreement" message. I looked around the internet and saw many other people having this problem.

Has anyone ever been able to get past this without disabling their internet connection? This is ridiculous. The game came out 2 weeks ago. I called Sony and they told me their their managers were telling them to tell people to disable their internet connections to play. I got the general PS3 ports off of them and opened them up, and still can't get through. If other people haven't been able to get through, I'm just going to take it back, but I don't want to do that if it's just a server issue that will be resolved...

Please help!

I'm having the same exact problem bro, i thought it was the game that was screwed up but obviously it's a server problem & so far it's p*ssing me off.

Yeah that's the thing, I don't know whether the server has just been messed up today, or whether it's been an ongoing thing since it's been released?

in the MLB 08 The show forum they claim it to be a problem since it has been released, i doubt it though because i just bought mines yesterday and got pass that screen with no problem, i'm going to wait a few days to try again and see what happens.

It depends on your router, mostly people with ****** routers are having the problem. I was using a ******, and couldn't get through, bought a Linksys router over the weekend, and MLB 08 has worked flawlessly since.

I have a Linksys router... anyone have any problems? I called Linksys and Sony already to make sure I have all the right ports open... Do you have any special ports open or anything?

Do you have a link? I've been looking around everywhere and can't find anyone with a solution. The only "solution" is to unplug the ethernet cable from the PS3 so that it doesn't try to connect to the internet, and that is crap. I want my internet for the game or I'm going to return it. If you have a link, thanks.

II'm really confused then because Sony said that a lot of people have been calling with this same issue and they couldn't help anyone besides telling them to disable online. Also, people all around the internet, besides this thread it seems, claim to be having this problem and can't get on today. I have no problems getting on any other games except this one. I can't find any solutions and it's really frustrating.

People who can get on... Are you using a router? What kind? Did you open any special ports? I would be grateful for any information to help the problem.

I have the same problem. I'm using a ****** router and I have to go to network settings to disable the internet before I turn it on. Personally it doesn't really bother me that much because I bought it strictly for the "Road to the Show" mode. The only thing that's gonna suck is how am I gonna download roster updates??? But I agree that Sony dropped the ball on this one, this problem is inexcusable.

Yeah I disabled the internet under network settings to see if I could get in and I could, but if I can't get on the internet, which I have no idea why I can't, then I don't want the game.

By the way, to the people coming on here and saying that there's like 20 threads with all these solutions on the official MLB The Show forums in the playstation website, please give me a link to the person with these solutions. I went on the website, saw a few forums about people experiencing the problems, but yet have I found a solution.

It's really frustrating because I've called Sony, Linksys, Comcast, gone on here and posted in the forums, and I've looked all around the internet. Can't find anything.

I don't know then because I am still looking around; a guy said he bypassed his router and and plugged his PS3 straight into the cable modem and is having issues. Maybe it's servers in certain areas of the country??? I have no idea. I'm from Philadelphia...

I have a dlink dgl4300 router/switch

I've tried connecting wired via the router, and bypassing the router and plugging straight in to my cable modem (rca dcm245), and no go. I have not tried wireless yet, but figure if it can't work straight through, why would it work on the router?

I'm in the LA, CA area.

I feel for you man. If this problem had happened to me when I brought 'The Show' home, I would be totally freaking out.
