my friend let me borrow his Kane & Lynch game and when i went to download the update data it said that it would take over 120 minutes to download 540 MB........my friend told me that when he did it it took just over 10 minutes on his system.....he has a cable connection while im running on DSL so i figured this could have something to do wit it being so slow but this is the first time a download has taken so long out of all the games i've played.....i would appreciate any help that any1 has to offer....thx in avance

It could possibly be because the game is not supported much anymore so the download would be slower due to less servers being up on the publisher's part.

That time doesn't seem that slow.. your downloading over half a gig and expect it to take 10 mins? Not gonna happen.

i get low connection on my ps3 when i play World @ War if someone is on youtube or streeming anything on the house computer, my guess is that my modem cant handle the ps3 or the computer drains the connection of the ps3, its a 2wire and i went on speedtest.net and tested my connection the results were: download speed=1.29 mb/s, upload=.32 Mb/s, ping=30 ms. Its that slow for SBC DLS? I also had a router connected since i hear the router is a better source of connection for the ps3, but was the same thing as the wired connection. Can any tell me whats wrong

sometimes my download speeds over psn are like dragging a donkey, sometimes they are fast enough. It's just the way the cookie crumbles.

I used to have the same problem but now i have lightning fast downloads, i can download a 500mb game in about 10 minutes. All i did was open up some ports on my wireless internet and played around with the antenna and presto!

That was one of the many gripes I had with PSN, everything downloads so damn slow. I guess that's the cost for a free service.

That's the same things most people try and say but it's just not the case. I have a 20meg download and 5meg upload...so try again. I NEVER get slow download speeds on another console (I won't name). I download 1GB files on that other service that's opposite of PSN and it gets done super fast. It's Sony's servers or lack there of as to why so many people experience slow download speeds. Heck even the firm updates take long....and I'm not the only one. I think at this point we all know it's Sony!! lol, unreal.

Maybe you're right, I was just pointing out that I have never had a slow download from PSN.

I really have no problem with any downloads. I am on DSL using a wifi connection on a old D-Link router. It just took some playing around with the settings and repositioning the PS3 and router to find the best signal strenth. Firmware updates usually take just a few minutes (much better than the days of a small update that would take all night to download),

An important thing about DSL to take into consideration is the distance you are away from the nearest hub. Depending on how far away from the CO you are, the slower your performance is going to be and the type of dsl you are going to be using. Truth be told, you need to be within a mile of the nearest hub in order to get the max performance out of your dsl connection. After 2 miles, you start to lose a good deal of performance in your connection and use a different version of dsl at that point (basically without getting to technical). The exact amount of loss you get can vary from provider to provider, but distance will always affect your speeds. You can do a quick Google search about DSL and distance and find out alot more.

Just something to take into consideration as a possible secondary factor to your slow downloads at times.

That's so true. Also I have a dedicated line for my DSL connection and the nice thing is it didn't cost a dime more to have a dedicated line.
