ok well at first i didnt beleive that gamespot.com was against the PS3, but after reading the article on the Europeans gettting shafted and how the PS3 is terrible, im sick of it. I cant wait for sony to release games like lair, motorstrom, etc. and for them to choke on their words. makes me mad...Ps3 is going to rock this generation of systems
Yeah it was kinda BS that they had to have an "exlcusive" on this issue of BC for the Euro PS3. It's not THAT big a deal. GS seems more like local news playing on scare tactics. It's all part of the propaganda machine.
sony probably loves it though honestly, cause they get bad press at first, so everyone is watching their every move, then when they deliver, people eat their words, and jump on with the new console. no publicity is bad publicity as the old saying goes
I definently don't think that gamespot sides on any particular side in the console wars....especially since there are different people, meaning different opinions. I think the PS3 has lost it's chance to blow us away...redeeming itself is a goal that can be accomplished.
I'd be ripping the PS3 if I were on gamespot. To me i'd be offended for what i'm offered at the price i'm paying, so right now yeah it's bad for sony. Also time will tell when the news changes to "PS3 doing well", don't cry about the bad news, you just don't have any good news to report on YET.

GS seems to be a lil anti-Sony...Its seems like its the thing to do. But dont worry, once the PS3 has sold 10million+ units than all the other systems, we can relax and watch the massive damage control on these boards.
I believe it was warrented. The last straw that broke the camels back. I dont understand why some of you want to lay down and let sony drive over you? In Australia we are paying more for a console that is less then the American version. So what you ask? -Limited compatability means that there will be a LOT of games that dont work. This was also something Sony promised. -We still paying the same price for it even though its missing a chip, this is just jipped. The way I see it, Sony have watched the launch in America and Japan, and seen their money geting injected down the drain. Now going into damage controll that are trying to scrimp and save to try and stop losing so much money. Either that or they just don't care about countries that arnt as big game players and we dont matter. We had to wait months... and now we dont even get the full version, but we DO still get a great ridulasly inflated price :D whooo i fell so privelaged, I just stop whining and be so grateful that they even bother releasing it here ay?
I swear If sont does fail this generation it's not because of anything that matters it'll be because too many people listened to all the negative hype that surrounds the system making it grow. Europeans are STILL getting backwards compatability it's just taking a little longer because sony's trying to lower the cost of the system YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO PLAY PS2 GAMES!!! I'm absolutly certain you;ll get the same level of compatability as every other region in short order and if anything the System's price will probably drop for you before it dose for us!
You do not get negitive press without negative issues. And I seriously doubt we will recieive a price drop quicker then the almighty americas. Its simple Sony has broken a lot of promises. Thats why there is no flak towards the 360 because they didnt make promises which they have had to break. We get it 3-4 months after everyone else. We have to pay more for less hardware It has LIMITED BC at launch unlike the america version, as GS said LIMITED does mean less then 50% These arnt bogus issues. they are real, and they mean something. This as well with other more subjective (opinionated) downfalls.
Sorry, but have you looked at the positive side of them not using the Emotion Engine?
This means emlation, and I believe with emulation can come increased comptability and Texture smoothing, anti-aliasing, and upscaling. Now im not definetly saying they will do this, but the chances are pretty damn good. Its not the end of the world that you have to wait like 3 more months to play ALL ps2/ps1 games (because most of them, well they look like complete crap.) So look at this as an oppurtunity for ENHANCEMENTS to the PS2/PS1 playback.

Limited BC doesn't mean anything yet. Barby horse adventures doesn't work? Who cares? Final Fantasy XII doesn't work, we have an issue. But as of yet, we don't know what % and more importantly which % of the games aren't BC. And it's not like they won't be updating the emulation software. The 360 had launch titles that looked like upscaled XBox1 games and some of the Wii's games are in competition with the friggin PS2, not to speak of a game drought that's been just as bad as the PS3's and the 360's a year ago

This as well with other more subjective (opinionated) downfalls. no one ever gets negative press without negative issues? interesting. remember the firestone and ford issue with the vehicles flipping? they made them recall them? here is what happened, a few people, (mostly women, sorry, they like to haul ass in SUV's and never check their tire pressure) flipped their SUV's, they showed the tire pressure in those vehicles was entirely too low, and they were driving around curves excessively fast. is that firestone's fault? no, while i hate firestone tires, cause they suck, it wasnt their fault, but the press dropped it on them even though it was driver negligence. i seem to remember M$ saying they would have 100% BC on launch, they dont even come close over a year later, sometimes they cant deliver on things, get over it. think about it this way, if you work a job where you try to make something happen, and you say you will take care of it for the person (be it a co-worker, customer, client, etc) and you just cant deliver because you had to rely on a group of people doing their part right, but they didnt, you didnt really lie, someone just couldnt produce, and you had to take the butt of it. thats most likely what happened with sony, its a big company, they most likely honestly thought they could do what they promised immediately, but they are going to make it right, they have been working on that obviously. things happen, you dont turn your back on people that make a mistake, it happens, they are working on making it right, and they have always done so, everything sony has made, they delivered.and europe is not paying more because of Sony, this has been reviewed already, its because of taxes, sony sells for a set price, the retailers set the price you pay. 50% of the PS2 games is like 2000 titles, get over it. the plan was to remove the emotion engine from the start, you want a chip that makes more heat and doesnt give the ability to upscale? america and japan did the beta test basically of the system, and we put up with the original problems with firmware, you get to do the same, but in the end we will get a system that can upscale old PS2 games, and make them less jaggy with the powers of the cell, add HDL and AA in there, make the games great, and you get PS3 games. you seem to be complaining about things that dont matter. so, if you want a emotion chip that wont do anything, i will gladly find you one and ship it to you, you can shove it in there and watch it not do anything cause they are stopping the use of it in our units also

Yeah, it may drop before ours but they are paying more in the first place. That is like the oil companies driving up the price to 2.50 a gallon when it was at 1.25, then when they lower it to 2, it seems like a deal, when you are in fact paying .75 more per gallon than you were. Sony keeps making stupid moves this gen, if they fail(highly improbable) it will be nobody's fault but their own.
