Well looks like we are screwed.
I can't remember where I heard it, but someone wrote that these hacks can only happen when the user is the host... so hopefully you can't hack the crap out of games with dedicated servers...
But anyhow, link.

Oh come now, it's their fault. They've had no security in their games since COD4 and it was as easy as editing a notepad. Who are we kidding here folks? Is this really a surprise?
Infinity Ward "can't fix it" because they're incompetent programmers who like to rush broken games from the get go. Not to mention, their SS publisher (Activision) literally had some of the team kicked out of their studio by force. I mean come on guys, nobody saw this coming? It was bound to get worse and they don't give a flying f***. They never have before, why should they now?
As long as they've got your dollar, they'll keep shoveling the same broken garbage every year, pretending it's a new game (even dumbing it down even further). Just keeps getting shorter and shorter..

If someone breaks into your house do you blame yourself for not having tight enough security or do you blame the theif? I don't understand your logic by blaming the developer for not preventing the enevitable.[QUOTE="Denji"]If someone breaks into your house do you blame yourself for not having tight enough security or do you blame the theif? Its been like this on 360 since the game came out.. there's even less in the way for people to hack on that system.Just hope this doesn't spread to other games. May have to get a 360. :?
There should probably be a sticky for this since there are so many of these topics lately.

Hacking a 360 isn't all that different than hacking a PC in a box.
There isn't an LOL smiley big enough for how I'm feeling now. One word: spacegoat. istuffedsunnyScapegoat. :P But yeah... I'm honestly getting the impression that Activision is using the current security breach as an excuse to finally give up on their previous releases. I mean, they already have, but now they have an excuse.

exactly.. which is why COD on 360 has been pretty much broken since day one.[QUOTE="Denji"][QUOTE="PoisoN_Facecam0"] Its been like this on 360 since the game came out.. there's even less in the way for people to hack on that system.PoisoN_Facecam0

exactly.. which is why COD on 360 has been pretty much broken since day one. the dude that lives next to me plays a ton and he said there aren't instant kill streak hacks (uinless someone is using JTAG, which gets banned after a few hours of being online) on the 360 version so that stuff in unique to the ps3 version.. but yeah both verisons of the game have issues. If someone breaks into your house do you blame yourself for not having tight enough security or do you blame the theif? Did you read any of what I've typed and understood it?I can't give you common sense to see how a theif (like a hacker) is going to use a security weakness to achieve his goals. Its not a stretch of imagination to relate a computer criminal to a regular criminal and see how the priciple of blaming the victim is a scapegoat for not blaming the criminal. If you don't get this yet, you can substitute these similarities instead:[QUOTE="Ninja_Zombie83"][QUOTE="Denji"]

a. Its the victim's fault for being raped, not the raper?
b. Its the bank's fault for being robbed, not the robber?
c. Its IW for being hacked, not the hacker?
Last time I checked, not having security isn't illegal or even wrong but there is something called a ToS that clearly states its wrong to hack. You are implying that hackers just can't help themselves and its not their fault security was so low. Yeah poor hackers.
Are you pretending that every other developer has an invincible security system that IW doesn't get to have because they bring in so much more money or do you really think illegal activity is a by-product of a lack in protection instead of a distortion of moral conduct? I don't care if all you need to do to cheat is shake the console at the start-up screen. If they tell you not to do it, you agree and you do it anyways, then its WRONG TO DO and its YOU who are at fault for your actions,NOT them.
If you can't explain your post then don't substitute a rhetorical response equally void of reason.Speaking of reason,Activision fired two lead developers over royalties. This has nothing to do with programming, security or IW as a whole and it speaks for the actions of TWO PEOPLE.
Well looks like we are screwed.

Great , now were going to get cheaters in MAG , BO then K3 , socom4 and finally what should be the saviour of fps Battlefield 3

I know you made another post, but I couldn't be bothered to quote that. But anyway, the way I see it, using your analogy it should be 'if someone breaks into your house do you blame the builder (meaning developer) for not building a properly secure window frame perhaps that led to the break in or do you blame the thief? Sure the thief is at fault, but the builder shoulders some blame for selling you a shoddy product.
People here aren't defending hackers, nor blaming gamers (which kinda seems more equivalent to blaming yourself in your analogy, since it's the legit gamer who suffers in the end), they're just saying the game had shoddy security/left to be. I don't really know or care, but I understood that at least.

Yeah I'm kinda notorious for long posts and links so I don't blame you for not quoting my essay :P I see how my analogy ccould be missunderstood and maybe I should have been more clear (though your analogy of the builder works). Since I'm just months away from entering the game industry as a programmer myself, the hacking topics play close to the chest so I'm baised in favor of the developers. The point I was trying to make is that its not IW's fault, as Denji stated, but the hackers. Even Sony can make the most resistant console to prevent hackers and eventually fail because nothing his hack-proof. The battle over security is circular and is neither a cause or solution for cheating.
Instead of providing security in vein, they should go after the people (banning) instead. IMO security without conciquence or re-enforcement is pointless.

Dude, did you miss the whole "EDIT WITH A NOTEPAD" part? Or how about the "NO SECURITY" part? Get real. Biased opinions get you no where...
I know I'm right. Trying to excuse it by using some BS "would you blame the victim?" method is just weak.
