I really liked the GH games, and Rock Band seemed to take the genre to another level last year. Ive never had the money for the special edition until now. Its only 85 bucks. Its listed as an opened box, but nothing was ever played or tried out. I dont wanna hvae to pay 160+ dollars for RB2, so RB1 is basically the only option. Is this worth it?

I'll be playing alone, but that was never a problem with any of the GH games

How are the reliability of the instruments?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rock Band 1 is an excellent game, but the second is more convienent feature set. If I were you... Buy Rock Band 2, special edition. Rent Rock Band 1 from a friend or Blockbuster, pay $5 for the 55 RB1 song transfer. Return RB1. Paying $5 for 55 out of the 58 songs in RB1 is a great deal. Try to do that and get RB2.

I dont have enough for any of the RB2 bundles. Its basically the RB1 special edition or nothing. How is the reliability of the instruments? Ive heard a lot of people complaining about instruments being poorly made and breaking easily. Is that just overblown?

Ah, dang that stinks. :( RB1 special edition for now, THEN get the RB2 disc. ;) Yeah just do that. :) Reliability? I've played more than 100 hours of RB1 and 2 combined and my drums are just starting now to break, but they still register hits. The plastic plate under the red drum is broken almost completely in half, but still works pretty well. My bass pedal broke due to my lead foot but I fixed it. Look here for before and here for after I fixed it. Pretty sick eh? :D There is a chance of broken stuff, but if it breaks just send it back.

I'll most likely get the RB2 and GH WT games after Xmas. Are the RB1 instruments compatible with GH WT?

Is it really worth it to buy this game if I'll be playing alone 99% of the time. None of my friends an really come over and play multiplayer ever, and all the reviewers say its not that good if you play alone. I never had any problems playing the GH games alone. Im planning on getting RB2 and GH WT eventually too, so I was wondering if only being able to play solo will be that big of a deal........

Playing solo is only good if you like the songs. If you play with other people then almost all the songs are enjoyable.

So should I not bother getting it then? Cause I'll be playing alone 99% of the time.....

Does anyone else have an opinion on whether I should buy it for mostly solo play or not?

Well, I brought it for mostly alone play but I still think it was worth it.
Plus, all of the kit from RB1 is compatiable for RB2. So, you could buy the disc for RB2 later on if you run out of entertainement with RB1.
It's equal on both sides for the most part. For example the drums to RB1 are louder, though sliencing pads can be brought, where as most people just have trouble with the RB2 drums hitting random notes (they hit red rapidly, green will be hit for no reason). Other than that, I don't know of any other differences. Though I would recommend only buying the drums if you're alone, say if you don't live with your parents because they WILL get annoyed with the noise. Just let me know if there's anything else you want me to clarify :]
