Rock Band 2 Bundle was NOT worth it...

For anyone who already has the bundle for the first Rock Band, DO NOT get the Rock Band 2 bundle. The small amount of extra features is not worth shelling out the extra 120 (at least here in canada) for it. The extra subtle sound difference between hitting the drum in the middle and the edges doesnt make enough difference to be extremely noticeable, and the extra features on the guitar (video and sound calibration and wood grain finish), however cool, are still not enough to make it worth the extra money for it. I think that the biggest disappointment is the fact that the later cymbal add-on doesnt even add extra notes to it! All it does is give you a different way to hit the blue, green, and yellow notes. The only time you can use them as extra notes is in freestyle mode. Don't get me wrong though, the game it self is freakin awesome, I just dont think that the extra peripherals are worth it.

To all Rock Band 1 owners, keep your existing hardware and just buy the software, I think you will be much more satisfied.

Actually you are wrong, the PS3 version only came with all black finish and the neck is wood grain. So, he is right...

How's the guitar though? Are the buttons and strum bar any more responsive? I don't use the drum kit enough to buy the whole bundle, but if the guitars are closer to the GH3 Les Paul in the way that they play, I'll go buy two of em when I can.Generic_Dude

Yes, from what I have read, the buttons are more responsive, and the strum bar is a little more stiff than before, but it still doesnt click like the previous version didnt, which I do like much better than the GH3 guitar. That clicking drove me nuts after playing Rock Band, I just couldnt go back to it.

i think ye have a misunderstanding. there are 2 types of rock band 2 guitars. the ps3 version which is black and the 360 version which is sunburst and imo much more like a real fender.

sunburst isnt a smell or anything its a colour pattern kind of this used on guitars mainly fender bass' and guitars

I am aware of what the sunburst looks like, but if hes going to post his dumb comments before he even knows what the PS3 version looks like, then thats not my problem. I was, misguidedly, trying to let you in on an industry term used by people who play guitar, so that you might not look foolish if you ever have to talk to one of them.

I will admit that I was wrong about both what you were referring to and the color scheme for the guitar you got in your bundle, but in no way was I simply trying to be a dick. Thanks OP for giving out some valuable info before I go to get this game. How hard is it to find original Rock Band gear if you never owned it... Or would you recommend just getting the new stuff anyway since I don't already have the Rock Band 1 stuff. Much thanks.Phearz

Dude, go to any EB Games (in canada as where i am) or I think its called GameStop in the States? Either way its the same company.

I will guarantee each store is up to the wazoo in hardware for the original rock band man, in fact, i went to my local eb/gamestop and they had so many they (thankfully) wouldnt take it. Thankfully i say because I will be returning mine (i have friends who work there) and just purchasing the software instead and taking my credit back.

EDIT: Upon thinking about it, it all depends on how much you will be saving by buying the RB1 equipment instead. If its like 10-30 bucks, id rather just shell out the extra and buy the RB2 bundle, at least it wont be second-hand equipment.

It was a joke, if you read some of the earlier posts, you would see that a poster was correcting me on the wording i used for the design/colors of the guitar.

His comment gave off an "um, excuse me, but that isnt purple, its a touch of lavender" feel to it, so I made a joke about comparing him to martha stewart.

I cant believe I am explaining an insult, doesnt that just take totally away from the joke? Now its not funny anymore.

Well, for my part, I think that the bundle is a great deal. Another guitar when we play at 4. Ok, it's not such a new guitar, but it's working. The drumming pad are much bouncy and quieter. I think it great, especially when you play in an appartement. BUT, the drums I received is broken. I get some random feedback from the Green drum. I opened a RMA at EA, and I wondered if anyone got the same problem?
