Definitely Rock Band!! The guitar is better since they updated it and the drums are freakin' awesome. Don't listen to that other guy. He probably just can't play the drums. I have worked my way through easy, medium, and now I am playing on hard. The kick pedal kills me. Oh, and the songs are better in Rock Band.
I have both games BTW.

yup, and i was a gh fan from the 1st one to the 3rd, but Rockband bests it in dlc and overall enjoyability and singing+guitaring/drumming is an awesome way to play and challenge urself.
if you're gonna play by yourself, get GH3. the songs are more intense and you really get into it.
If you're gonna play with other people, Rock Band is probably the best party game out right now. (not that great for single player)

I agree, GH3 is much better for playing alone. Songs are amazing and you never get bored of it.
I don't get why people say GH3 is better than Rock Band for playing alone. I don't believe that at all. The guitar is the same thing as GH3 just not as hard and if you really want a challenge play the drums. They are hella fun by yourself. Now, the singing is usually more fun with other people.
BTW, I got bored with GH3 really fast. Probably because a lot of the songs suck. Plus, I play the guitar for real and find playing a real guitar a lot easier than playing GH3, which gets kind of unrealistic.
I would get GH3 because it's a good single player, multi player, and party game. Rock band is only good if you have a lot of siblings or if your friends are over all the time.s-baller23
Nothing against this person but people who say this must have never played Rock Band or are GH fanboys/girls. I have both and all I do is play by myself except for very rare occasions when my nephews come over and we play band world tour in Rock Band.
I do like both games but Rock Band just has that IT factor that GH3 doesn't have. For one thing, if you get bored with one instrument you can play the other.
Oh, and Rock Band is made by the people that made the first two Guitar Heroes, Harmonix. GH3 was made by Neversoft. Maybe that's why the first two GH's were better than the third.
Edit: Also, this is coming from one of Slash's biggest fans.

Ditto my friend. Except the nephews part. In my case, cousins come over to play
PROS (+) AND CONS (-):
Rock Band:
+ Great tracklist
+ Great presentation
+ A huge amount of unlockables
+ A huge amount of great downloadable content
+ Downloadable content is more reasonably priced than GH3.
+ Drums are awesome
- The guitar isn't as good as the GH3 Les Paul
- Doing the vocals is a little embarrassing.
- Costs quite a bit.
Guitar Hero 3:
+ The Les Paul is the best guitar controller this genre has yet seen.
- Weakest tracklist of any GH game yet.
- Looks worse than GH2.
- Boss battles are stupid.
- A nauseating amount of in-game advertising.
- Hardly any downloadable content.
- Downloadable content is lousy and excessively expensive.
- Bret Michaels is NOT a legend of rock.
But he is a legend of spandex LOL. RockBand rules. With all the DLC I have bought and the pre purchase of a second guitar (April 1st where are you?) my price tag is close to $400 dollars. Worht it though.PROS (+) AND CONS (-):

Neversoft bought Guitar Hero from Harmonix and they don't know what they're doing with it. Their chartings on the majority of their songs are pretty terrible, oftentimes with randomly unnecesarry three-note chords and hammer ons and pull-offs that don't even make sense.
The production value of Rock Band is soooooooooo far above Guitar Hero III. Rock Band is just more fun. For anyone who thinks Rock Band has no difficult guitar songs to offer, I ask you..."Have YOU beaten Green Grass on expert yet???"
