im planning on getting a game like rock band or gh3, i read reviews and i think i should get rock band, i was wondering what the soundtrack was like in rock band, and i heard that a new rock band is comming out so should i wait till the new one comes out or just get the original?
Get the original and then Rock Band 2 once it comes out. If you have Rock Band, almost every song on Rock Band can be transferred to Rock Band to for $5. Also, the peripherals for Rock Band will work with Rock Band 2.

i would get rockband 1 right now but the instruments are kinda crappy
It really depends on what you like, musically, and if you are/want to be a hardcore fan. Rockband 1 and 2 have a variety of genres and artists, and is widely considered easier when compared to GH. GH3 has mostly Rock/Metal, and hopefully, so will GH:WT. And GH3 has some of the hardest songs out of all the games, and you can expect the same for GH:WT
Your best bet is to wait for the new games to come out, and check for yourself, maybe you want the whole kit, maybe just the guitar/drums.
You should wait till both are out so that you know what instruments are compatible with what games. There is an actual chance that Rockband 2 drums on the PS3 will work for GH:WT.

I don't know what you people do to your instruments... I've had mine since November and I've never had one break... and me and my brother play expert thrash songs all the time... The flimsy instruments are just flack gained from launch and misuse since I've never personally known anyone who had anything break that was of the revised instruments (The only thing that broke that I know of is my Uncle's kick pedal which was a launch version)

Don't fight it dude. I had to send in two guitars and the drum pedal 3 times. First guitar the whammy bar went limp, second guitar had double strumming issues. My first pedal lasted up until I got up to hard. My second pedal lasted about 20 songs on expert. The first pedal broke in the center and the second broke at the base. I let my friend have my drum set and shortly after that the yellow pad became warped, it still works but its all jacked up. As much as I love Rockband the instruments for it are decent at best.
The only crappy instrument in the Rock Band series is the guitar. The problem with the guitar is the tilt rarely works. If you get it and this happens just ship it back following the instructions in the box. I was having tilt problems, sent it back, got a new one in like 4 days and it works perfect. It is a blast. I would get rock band. When rock band 2 and GH3 comes out the instruments may work for both.
NEITHER, what i would do is wait for GH:WT and RB2 to come out and then the price of RB1 and GH3 will go down to virtually nothing and you can have both! but i can't shell out $190 for either :( so thats what ill end up doing

Yeah, it wouldnt work with the guitar that came with it. I couldnt get used to hitting the select button for the overdrive so I sent it back. Got it today in the mail and it works great!
