I don't have either, never played either.

I want a lot of good songs and good DLC options.

Are the drums fun to play on Rock Band?

Which is better to Play Alone?

The Guitar isn't as fun in Rock Band as it is in Guitar Hero 3?

If I get Rock Band should I buy a different Guitar Controller that EA makes? Or Should I just buy the EA Guitar controller? I want to get the best one obviously.

Any help much appreciated!

I would wait until the new guitar hero4 comes out which will have everything that rock band has and more. Supposedly it has a quieter drumset with actual placement for symbols. And you can create your own tracks with their music creator studio software. Sounds like it is shaping up to be an awesome game with alot of ambitions. If money is a concern then guitar hero3 is probably your best option. If you have patience and the cash to back it up, then wait for Guitar Hero4.

Cool JK thanks for the input. I don't really want to wait 4-5 months for GH4 though.

Can anyone else provide their input? I like to hear what more of you guys who preferably own both or even 1 of these titles have to say about what they prefer.

Between those 2 games only.. my preference is on RockBand. And my reason for that is the incredible amount of DLC and the ability to play with your buddies. Plus...it has a drumset.

What is more fun with the Guitar though? Rock Band or Guitar Hero 3? I heard 3 was pretty bad compared to the previous 2 since Harmmonix left and then made Rock Band.

Also is the DLC better on Rock Band than it is on Guitar Hero 3?

Is the Drumset fun as much as the Guitar?

Anyone More input? I'm leaning toward more for Rockband, but I want the better Guitar play, and Single player play, and best DLC options.

So which should i get?

Drums are very fun indeed to play. The guitar is aimed at being 'band friendly'. In that I mean that it's easier to play so that you have a better all round experience, and don't feel as though it's a test of skills as much.

Rock Band has a far, far, far better supported DLC system.

The difficulty of GH3 is higher than Rock Band.

Is it too easy? Will I get bored of the game and left with a feeling like it was too unchallenging?

If you're planning on playing by yourself most of the time, get GH3. It has plenty of great songs. There's no sense in buying rockband with all the instruments just so you can play the guitar. And unless you have some experience playing drums, the drums on rockband won't be much fun. They are by far the most difficult to learn, especially if you are not a very coordinated person.

GH. See here that RB's instruments are nothing more than crappy plastic pieces of garbage

Rockband>>>>GH3. but if youre talkign abotu guitar only. the overall presentation of rockband is MUCH better and i also prefer the guitar for it as well, now GH3 is horrible presentation and just ugly and the guitar makes so much damn noise.

Bottom line, RB guitaring is a bit more fun because of the ability to play with friends and they could be on drums n stuff but at the same time its pretty easy. GH3 in comparision is harder. Take it this way the Expert on RB is generally a step between the Hard mode and Expert mode on GH

If you want to play with friends, RB, if youre cool with it on ur own, i guess GH, but i pretty much hate that game lol

If you really wanna drum and sing then go for Rockband, however Guitar Hero is way better for guitar, also all the songs that are on both games have easily better notecharts on GH.

I happen to disagree, i have had no drum experience in my life, all i know is, ive messed aorudn with my band's drummer's set, thats it. i have so much fun on drums. i actually play electric guitar and i picked up drums on this game, i play expert on drums (and it didnt take me long to get there) and im actually seriously considering takign up drums. unlike the guitar on RB and GH drums is pretty close to the actual instrument, it requires the same kind of coordination skill and rythm, you can have a drum set up to 8 pieces (snare, toms, cymbal, etc.) but u cant have a 5 note guitar. I reccomend u try the drums out, they are really fun.

I guess you're right but the "Hammer on" notes on GH are too easy, the order could be "green red yellow blue orange" as a stair case pattern and u could hit, green yellow blue red and if u hit them fast enough the game recognizes it as correct.

i know it sounds very critical and anal but these are thing uc ant pull of on real guitar, and i guess thats why i find these little things very annoying

Get Guitar Hero. Either wait for 4, or get 3. With Rock Band, you'll rarely find yourself singing (well, I can't really say that for you, but I only sing sometimes when I play guitar), you'll almost never play bass, as it's just a boring, repetitive, watered-down version of guitar. The songs in this game are not hard for the guitar, and the drums get boring after a while once you get good, but not good enough to beat the hardest songs. And sometimes, you may not feel motivated enough to get better at them.

All I can say for GH is that the songs are definately harder, if that's what you want. A lot of people say they hate the setlist, but I'm not looking at it from a standpoint of which songs I listen to outside of GH. You already missed a lot of the DLC (at least the free DLC), but there are some songs still available.

I still play GH online, just to play people at the hardest songs. Every once in a while I'll pull out RB to play some of the harder songs with the drums, but not that often.
