rpgs in the modern ages... where are they?

I just saw Tales of Vesperia i think its called is coming to the ps3. It lookedinteresting but got me thinking.I have been recently in the mood for decent rpg. What are some good ones now on ps3? None come to mind ,weird for it being a sony playstation system.

Valkyria Chronicles and Folklore come to mind.

Also, that Demon's Souls game is coming out soon (although it supposed to be brutally, brutally difficult).

Yeah i looked up folklore before its on my to buy list . as well as fallout 3 . ( waiting for dlc) but im looking more for a good more traditional rpg in the same vein as say the usual squaresoft stuff.

I love Fallout 3 and am anxiously awaiting the GOTY edition. Oblivion is pretty good, but the story got kind of bland for me after a while. I might give it another shot since it's relatively cheap and looks beautiful. I picked up Sacred 2 today. Not bad so far, but it isn't anything special either.

I hope that ToV makes it here in the states for the Ps3 and is not just for the Japanese region. That game is an awesome Jrpg!

You might want to try a PS1 classic like Wild Arms or FFVII. They aren't as graphically pretty as PS3 games, but they are good.

u could wait for white knight chronicles, demon's souls, FF13 and FFV13.

the ones on the 360, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyessy, are really dull and simplistic.

but yeah, there havent been that many great JRPGs this gen. Hope that changes soon. The last one i actually finished was enchanted arms and it was made by Ubisoft.

Most RPG games I hate. Fallout 3 is the only exception.

There isn't much out as far as RPG's on any platform. The 360 has some, but most of them play like they are 15 years old with the graphics of today's standards. Valkyria Chronicles seems like your best bet. Eternal Sonata is ok, but I didn't think it was as amazing as everyone says. Either play Tales of Vesperia on 360 or wait for it to come out on PS3. Star Ocean I heard was ok on 360, it didn't look like anything special though.

Anyone know if the *** version of "Tales" will have both English and Japanese text

-I do not care about voice acting (actually prefer original Japanese)

All I care about is if it has English Text/Subtitles

Valkyria Chronicles! One of the most amazing games I've played in a long time.

Eternal Sonata is probably the best pure RPG on the PS3. You also have games like Tales of Vesperia, White Knight Chronicles, FFXIII, and others coming soon as well.

If you don't mind a strategy RPG, then Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea 3 are good choices.

demon souls is coming soon, fallout goty, alpha protocol, dragon age origins, borderlands; this holiday theres a few rpgs coming and most have a western flavor, if the eastern rpgs dont catch up the western rpg is holding the crown this holiday.

if you like rpgs with alot of replay value then get disgaea 3 definately. pretty lengthy story. extra chapter after you beat the main story. one of the main characters stars in its own story(that's dlc) oh and there are tons of dlc. extra characters, extra modes, and extra chapters.

why the hell is everyone saying get an 360 it only has mediocre rpgs games and the only ones being good are vesperia or sonata on it all of u are idiots

why do people complain lack of rpg's...get a psp or ds..PLENTY of rpg's on those systems.... or ps2.. yeah this gen's lacking in the rpg.but their are ways

yeah i could do that but just the fact that i have the brand that has always been know for its rpg choices and no rpgs to play on it.

While this gen has some good Western RPGs and Valkyria Chronicles is an awesome strategy RPG, I'd like to see some traditional JRPGs. I hope that developers someday recapture the magic that was in PS1 RPGs such as Final Fantasy VII, Lunar and Suikoden II.
