It is FF7....
Look on N4g it has it there.
Sony will be producing it so it wont be going to X-box 360 no matter what....
Thats just a rumour. To tc, It was only a rumour. You'll have to wait till tgs is over.

The PS3 does not need saving.:!yanks1112
Let's not kid ourselves, if the PS3 doesn't turn around and start making a lot of sales by next year, it's not going to look good for Sony. Not that I care about Sony in particular, but I want the PS3 to do well so we get more games.
Granted, a large price drop + FF7 remake/sequel announcement will be explosive.
As a sony fan, I have NEVER played FF series, everyone tells me I'm missing out big time...
So this isn't meant to be a flame/fanboy comment, but why does everyone want this remake so much??
Everyone seems to be talking about it...
cheers =]

I think most people like it because it was probably one of the few games that kinda made you create an emotional attachment to the characters.
PS3 needs saving? I wasnt aware a guy with a cape and monacle and a thin pencil moustache had tied it upto a steam train's tracks.Devils_Joker_22
OMFG LMAO the pic just came to mind. Please someone do a photo shop of that.

That would work.
Actually, if Sony is wasting their money on a remake of FFVII....the PS3 is doomed.
New console - new technology - new games.....get stuck in a rut and you lose. No one pays $600 to play a game they already played. Put the original FFVII up as a download and you might have something....but a remake is a dumb idea. It's an ESPECIALLY dumb idea if Sony is paying for it. THey should be paying to make the next revolution in console gaming....the game that makes the PS3 a must own for everyone....not a polished relic.
Final Fantasy VII seems to be obvious answer because no other title brings attention as much as Final Fantasy VII.
Name ANY franchise and see if that will bring as much attention as FFVII. Nothing out there can draw as much attention.
If they do make FFVII remake, I'll be quite happy.

No, the newest issue of Famistu (or however you spell that Japanese game magazine) confirmed it.
I could be the new Team ICO project!! :D
Or Okami 2!!
Ratchetbuddy101
neither of them can draw enough attention to be "savior" of anything
Also Team Ico is part of Sony, the article said third party developer.

maybe, but i really dont care for that game anymorekingtahktahkhuk
I care since ive never played it....and don't tell me to play the zigzag FF7. I couldn't bear it.
I agree with Psythce. A lot of people, including myself, would probably froth at the mouth IF a Final Fantasy VII remake was announced. Now personally, I didn't play FFVII until 2005, but it became one of my favorite video games, though one of the things that irked me were the character models (call me crazy). Could you imagine how much it would sell if it WAS remade? I'd imagine Square Enix would probably remaster the soundtrack, add voice acting (prob. the AC actors, who else?). Personally, I'd also want them to make the game steadily harder as you went along...I thought it was a little too easy for the most part.
Also, new people who may have been turned away from the game in the past because of "crap graphics" as is the par with this new gen of gamers may now be enticed into the FF series...it would be a win-win situation for everybody. However, Square has stated in the past that they had no intentions of a remake, since the PlayStation 3 is still backwards compatible with PS1 games...though the three principal designers behind the game said they would like to do it IF they had the time, since a remake for the PS3 would take 5 years...and they obviously have other projects that are filling their time.
So unfortunately, as much as I want a FFVII remake, I won't be suprised if that's not the announcement at all.
I completely dissagree with you, and so does Square-Enix, when Square showed the Final Fantasy 7 Tech Demo, It was the biggest thing at E3, You fail to realize that Final Fantasy 7 has one of the biggest Fanbases over any other game, If not the biggest, and even those gamers who used too love it, and dont want itso much anymore would undoubtedly change their mind, Everyone would buy this game, and mainly I would say the gamers buying it would be players within their 20's and low 30's, cause thats when we played it, It doesn't matter if you call it a Polished RELIC, because I want a ARTICLE from the past that reminds everyone what was so great about playstation, and a Remake with Newfound graphics and an updated battle system, along with a few tweaks here and there for the story, would be great, and im sorry, You may think its a bad idea, buy I Guarantee you Square and Many millions of fans, have waited for this for years.[QUOTE="Hulabaloza"][QUOTE="Chirico_Cuvie"]A 360 emulator.Psythce

With everyone clamoring for a remake of FF7, clearly your opinion is not the popular one.
I would gladly pay $60 for a remake.
The key word being remake.
Updated graphics, heck, maybe tweak the gameplay. Bringing a game that popular into the next generation of console gaming isn't a dumb idea at all.

no its not, but he still has teh right idea about it tho, payin to make a old games remake an exclusive is jsut a dumb idea period, now i dont care for FFVII as much as most, i enjoyed the game alot but its nto my favorite of the series, i wouldnt mind seein it remade, if only to shut up the people who keep callin for it, but were 2 gens out from that game and its time to make bigger and better games and thats what this new exclusive should beno its not, but he still has teh right idea about it tho, payin to make a old games remake an exclusive is jsut a dumb idea period, now i dont care for FFVII as much as most, i enjoyed the game alot but its nto my favorite of the series, i wouldnt mind seein it remade, if only to shut up the people who keep callin for it, but were 2 gens out from that game and its time to make bigger and better games and thats what this new exclusive should be-DirtySanchez-
Absolutely. It shouldn't be the only thing on Sony's plate. And I hope they aren't shelling out a ton of cash to convince Square to remake it. But it's far from a dumb idea.
There's room for bigger/better/cutting-edge games and every once in a while, games that remind us of where the company was built upon.

you obviously dont realize how much the remake would sell. this rumor is probably the hardest rumor to kill that i have ever encountered. it could quite possibly sell as much as halo 3 if it got released due to the HUGE fanbase FFVII has. On all the systems for that matterAs a sony fan, I have NEVER played FF series, everyone tells me I'm missing out big time...

I'd love to see a remake, but then again if it doesn't happen I'll be fine.
And who cares if they aren't making a new game, this is what people want. and its just one game (well ok square is remaking like every game they've ever created but still) there are and will be plenty of new games to play, one remake for the PS3 isn't gonna hurt anything.
if u read carefully they say guaranteed victory in japan which is...the war..
so ff7 will dominated japan and the world

Re making a FF game is not going to be cheap.....no matter what is done. Everything in FF7 would have be re-worked - everything from the ground up. That's a massive amount of work and would take a massive amount of money, by Sony, to do it. Not to mention talent and resources that could be set to building something new.
Yes, this would be a nice 'side' project....but they have a budget and there is no way this would be a side project. It would be a sink hole and cost many millions just to secure the IP as exclusive.
Also, games work for their time. FF7 may have a great story and gameplay for its time, and a legion of fans cause of that, but a new one is not guaranteed to interest anyone but super fans of the series. There is a very small chance that the 'changes' to modernize it make it into a top game, compared to everything else available now.
Again....if Sony is dumping their 3rd party dev resources into this....they have completely lost it. They should be investing in the NEXT big thing, not the big thing from their 'glory days'.
If Square is doing it - that's fine....call it milking the cash cow or whatever. Good for them. I'm sure it makes good business sense for them.
The notion that a FFVII remake won't be good for the PS3 is completely foolish. Whether or not people hate the FF series and couldn't less about a remake or think that all time and money should be spent on advancements and all new games...the fact is that Final Fantasy is one of the biggest franchises in gaming history and VII is one of its crowning achievements. A remake would spark an explosion of PS3 sales across the world. I know at least a dozen guys on my floor here and a dozen more back home who would buy a PS3 even if a FFVII remake was the only game they bought with it. Call it stupidity, but a FFVII remake would be incredibly profitable and satisfy the hordes of gamers waiting for a remake, plain and simple.
I myself would love nothing more than to play VII next gen.
people saying it wouldn't be a success are absolutely crazy. FFVII is not just a game... it's THE most important game ever in the lifes of millions of people worldwide...
those who never played it would have their chance do finally do so this time around with up to date graphics and all around polishness.
FFVII had incredible graphics at the time on the PS1, and was probably on par with MGS one of the most advanced and important games of their time. Just see how long it has been since the release of FFVII and watch how many people still have this special feeling for that game. You don't see such a big demand for any other game on the FF series as you have for the 7th, so it would be a excelent opportunity for Sony and Square to make some easy money giving us what we wanted all this time.
well 1st business day of tgs has gone and no announcement about this, so probably there is nothing..
usually the big stuff is presented in the press conferences...
how would FF7 ave the ps3? FF series sucks. besides its the same game just better visuals, we dont need any more remakes, i want new stuff. like InFamous. serisouly though, stop posting crap about FF7, its getting old.MGSFan27285
You may think the FF series sucks, but thats your opinion. I will agree with you though that the rumours of FFVII are VERY annoying. Its brought up so much, i actually hope they dont make it just to spite the fanboys of the stupid game. I have mentioned a game that is in some ways clearly better than FFVII, and that is Xenogears. Whenever i mention it though, the only people to talk about it are the people who have played it. No other person asks if the game is good or anything, because obviously nothing can come close to their game god FFVII. Even though, the people i have talked to who have played Xenogears have said they liked it more than FFVII.
Its so pathetic, the fanboys come up with reasons as to why SE would make a remake. The most popular one now being this topic. "FFVII IS GOING TO SAVE THE PS3!!" I dont care if the remake looked like XIII, i want Ratchet and Clank way more. All of the games currently planned i would rather spend my money on then another rehash of that dumb overrated trash, but thats just me. And im in the minority obviously.
As much as i love Xenogears i have never whined and complained about a remake. Because truthfully, why would a "classic" need one in the first place. Its YOU guys who need the remake, not Sony. If FFVII was so perfect it wouldnt need a remake.
[QUOTE="beckhambender"][QUOTE="-DirtySanchez-"]no its not, but he still has teh right idea about it tho, payin to make a old games remake an exclusive is jsut a dumb idea period, now i dont care for FFVII as much as most, i enjoyed the game alot but its nto my favorite of the series, i wouldnt mind seein it remade, if only to shut up the people who keep callin for it, but were 2 gens out from that game and its time to make bigger and better games and thats what this new exclusive should beHulabaloza

It would obviously be Square that's redoing it. Sony would only be paying to secure the rights and to keep it exclusive. (Maybe add in a little on top to get the project rolling) I'm getting the sense that kind of money would be a) fairly small and b) within reason.
