Rumor: Firmware 2.40 Details

"As usual, the rumor mill is in overdrive regarding the next PlayStation 3 firmware update. Ray Maguire mentioned that firmware 2.40 will feature in-game communication. Recently, announcement of PixelJunk Eden mentioned a XMB trophy feature. While the above features seem pretty much confirmed, there are some that are unconfirmed. Check out the list below and judge for yourself. The firmware is expected to hit before the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 out on June 12th.

Firmware 2.40 features:

* Access XMB chat features in-game

* 2D trophies from the XMB (70% of titles will support this feature)

* Video coding and groundwork for the Movie Store (out September)"

You will NOT need to download this update from the internet and its coming out on June 12. thats right its going to be on the MGS4 game, which is just another startegy from Sony and Kojima to sell the game to each PS3 owner. Thats their big surprise for JUNE 12, you'll buy MGS4 and have XMB right on that day with the game!

I've been waiting for 2.4 since last year.

Once 2.3 came I knew 2.4 would be coming soon. I suspect before Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out.
