*rumour* FF versus XIII cancelled!!

Square Enix has ceased development of Final Fantasy Versus 13 more than six years after the project was first announced, a new report suggests.

The PlayStation 3 action RPG was announced in May 2006. Since then, however, we've only snatched glimpses of it, and there's been no official update for some time.

No public statement will be made on the decision, a source toldKotaku. Square Enix is apparently keen to avoid any acknowledgement that could impact the company's stock price.

Resources from the project have now been moved to the next numbered Final Fantasy title, Final Fantasy 15.

Eurogamer has contacted Square Enix for comment, and we'll update if we hear back.

Meanwhile, more details on the future of the Final Fantasy 13 project - which already spans a number of games - will be announced in September, Square Enix has announced.

A presentation entitled "Final Fantasy 13 Lightning Saga: New Developments Presentation" will take place on 1st September as part of a 25th Anniversary event for the series.

Square Enix has previously teasedmore Final Fantasy 13 content- although it's unclear whether this means additional Final Fantasy 13-2 DLC or a fully-fledged Final Fantasy 13-3.

They cancelled one Final Fantasy game I knew nothing about and are instead making some other Final Fantasy game I know nothing about.

Final Fantasy Versus 13 cancelled? Or did Square Enix decide to move this game to Playstation 4. I do remember that originally the Final Fantasy 13 Crystal Nova was to be a trio of games. So thus far 2 of 3 Final fantasy games have been released on PS3.

So if they move this to Playstation 4 maybe there could be a Final Fantasy game at launch on PS4. Hopefully Square Enix has decided to move on the Playstation 4 for whatever they have planned for the Next Final Fantasy installment.

Is it so diffuicult to focus all your attention into making one FF game at a time? I just dont get it?!

Well, think about it this way: If this is indeed true, it just means we might see Kingdom Hearts 3 sooner!

I bought a PS3 again for FFVS and TLG...

IGN had reported that Versus is officially cancelled on Friday. They also announced in related news, that a FFXIII realted title will be announced on September 1st, Called FFXIII "Lightning's Saga", and will most likely be a FF XIII-3 game.

Unfortunately, if you were not a fan of FFXIII, your doing a lot of waiting for the next rendition of the game...

At this point, and at this price, its not a bad idea to grab XIII and XIII-2 IMO, the games weren't the best, but they are worth a play, especially if you are a die hard FF fan....it doesn't seem like the XIII series is going away this generation.
