This would be interesting. Also this can probably be done by some hack you're probably going to need a large hardrive for this. would be interesting to use the ps3 to play crysis through since the ps3 is more powerfull than any pc out there.

It can be done with emulators. I read an article a while back about a guy from Japan who was able to get Windows running on a PS3. I doubt it was very stable, but it was running. As I said, it's possible if you're well educated in computer science and have a lot of free time.

an emulated xp would still just be a proof of concept kind of thing

I think the PS3 OS does pretty much anything you need to do: internet, movies, music

I have yellowdog installed and I don't find much use for it except saying "hey look I got linux on my PS3!"

install Linux, then install a Linux windows loader then see what happens. see ya next year, after the first file has been finally opened in XP :p

it's just a gimmik or stuff to brag around, like: see, I am running XP on a non 486 system!

you will have absolutely no hardware support at all, everything will be software emulated, even the processor needed for XP. That means, Cell needs to calculate the processes for the emulator to emulate the software emulation of a different kind of processor. is there anything else you want to emulate?

don't even think of trying to run a windows compatible software on that emulated XP.

Are you completely and utterly retarded? Did someone drop you on your head as a baby? How can you possibly think that the PS3 is more powerful than any PC out there? You are most definitely wrong. If the PS3 is in fact more powerful, don't you think EA would've released Crysis on the PS3? I'm playing Crysis right now on high settings and my PC is definitely not top of the line, but is definitely more powerful than the PS3. I know there is talk of possibly releasing Crysis on PS3 and 360, but they will dumb-downed versions with weaker physics, graphics, etc, etc, etc. Think before you post. You make yourself look stupid.

I hope that was a joke. I can't wait to get my PS3, but my PC blows it away. IF Crysis comes to the PS3, it will not be the same game as whats on the PC. Windows running on the PS3 doesn't change the PS3's hardware specs.

Relax, man. There's no need to get so defensive. Maybe you should try politely explaining why/how he is mistaken instead of acting like a jerk. Just a thought. *shrug*

Ok, I admit I was being a little harsh, but I hate it when people post stupid comments like that when they have absolutely know idea what they're talking about it. Just a pet peeve of mine.

The funny thing is how you, "Kazamedevil" state that he's being retarted because the PS3 is "not" more powerfull then a PC. When in fact, your missing the point completely. The PC version of the game will never run on a PS3 because the PC version runs on XP and Vista only (using the directx9/10 API).... Let's just say for arguments sake that XP could be emulated on the PS3, there would be no way in hell that the the PS3 could emulate DirectX at anything but slideshow framerates.

Yes u can do this but 1st u have to install linux and after that u can install the xp on the linux but 1 thing is that after install linux and before install xp u need to emulate the xp by this soft which is QUME u install QUME on linux and than u can install xp but xp's speed is very very very slow on the ps3 i don't know why i think xp runs after many programes thats why maybe it works slow but there is no advantage of xp in ps3 becuz speed is very slowwww u can't play any game on that xp and even u can not run any software i mean u can do it but after very long time soo leave it.

and if u want to see the video of xp on ps3 so here is the link

Wow,wow wow come down. I didn't mean anything. I was just kidding. I am just saying that for people that can't afford a 3000$ computercan use the ps3 to run monster requirements games. The ps3 is preety weak exept the processor. Sorry for any misunderstadings lol.

No it doesn't. The PS3 only has 256mb system memory. Vista needs at least 512mb. That's one of the reasons why XP wouldn't run well in emulation mode either, since both Linux and XP would need to share the available memory. The video shows it running hella slow.

256mb? That's it? You couldn't run XP emulated on that. You can barely run XP by itself on 256mb of memory. My PC has a gig of RAM and XP emulation chugged when I had Linux installed. Which reminds me... I need RAM. Whoops... inner monologue getting typed.

The cell processor is more powerful than any other cpu out there from what I have heard.

You should youtube "windows xp ps3" and you will see someone doing it and yes, I think it is emulated through Linux.

Exactly what I ment by "more powerful". The CPU is strong but everything else is preety weak. Sorry for being an idiot. Don't spaz out lol. I don't care about this since we still have linux for people who need it and I just stick with my ps3 games for now. Oh yeah and Vista is preety bad.
