I loved Metal Gear Solid 1-3 and I loved Splinter Cell 1-3 so it comes down to a battle of the fourths.

Double Agent was horrible, and Im afraind Conviction is going to be even worse (Dunno how they'll pull that off) while Guns of The Patriots is absolutely amazing.

Snake has taken down bipedal nucleartanks, supernatural super-soldiers and is a clone of the world's greatest soldier, Big Boss (whom he has defeated...twice!).

When was the last time Sam Fisher did anything like that? Or for that matter, when was the last time Splinter Cell was even relevant?

This debate has raged on, and I am going to put an end to it. Sam Fisher is voiced by Michael Ironside, who plays General Sam Lane on Smallville. According the the comics, Superman and Lois Lane are married. Solid Snake may be a super agent extraordinaire, but Sam Fisher is Superman's father-in-law. This only proves that you watch Smallville and are interested in Superman, a character that has absolutely no bearing on the fact that Sam Fisher would get his ass handed to him before having his throat sliced open by the number one stealth assassin Solid Snake.

I disagree about Conviction being worse. It runs on a new graphics engine and it looks like an entirely different game. They're changing the gameplay and everything which should be great. I cant stand another recycled Tom Clancy game... *cringe*

Oh btw, you can choose any one of Snake's games and it would still be better than the entire Splinter Cell series. Snake is the best.

Nah, those moves he does near the end of MGS4 is may more impressive then anything Sam has done in 4 games... Come to think of it Akiba's bowl movements in MGS1 were more impressive then anything Sam's ever done...

Sam Fisher doesn't even compare to Snake. Sam would have to destroy a tank with grenades, Metal Gear REX, Metal Gear RAY, go through 4 B&B's with an old body past it's limits, and much more. Snake would rock Sam Fisher!

Raiden would also rock Sam Fisher! Raiden single handedly took out a harrier, destroyed 22 Metal Gear RAY, grew up killing people as a child, ate gunpowder for breakfast, trained on the battlefield as a child, killed an immortal Vampire, and much more.

Although Snake has a ton of depth, he doesn't have as much as other protagonists. Why? Because Kojima said in an interview (in the LE version of MGS4) that he wanted to NOT give Snake as many details, so that you could place your own characteristics into his character: therefore immersing you into the experience.

You'll notice that he's much more mysterious than most protagonists, which is a characteristic itself. Maybe some people are so tricked into thinking that some of their own, made up characteristics are indeed a part of Snake; therefore adding depth.

Exactly! MGS games are games that I actually use literary analysis on because Hideo Kojima created them like strong literature.

I enjoy both series but when you talk about History, Story and Overall quality. Metal Gear has proven itself more than once. I honestly belive MGS3 had broken controls and mechanics, but MGS4 is different. It's 100% better than anything before it.

HIDEO EVEN MADE THE X BUTTON FOR SELECTING. Only hard core MGS fans know what I mean by this. Hideo had a history of being the only person who used the O button for selecting and it always messed everyone up when they played a MGS game.
