This is not a new problem since I've had it ever since I first played GTA IV on release day.

Everytime I play a game with a dark sky (most recently ACII at night in-game) the sky sort of lags. Not in case of choppyness (word?) or anything, but the dark texture of the sky freezes.

I havn't got an actual picture of it, but this is what happens:

Mine:

Normal:

Normal

Anyone got a clue what I can do? Is there anything I can do? Do you recognize the issue?

Well, this is an LCD, 32"

Didn't think much of it at first, but now it's getting on my nerves.

I have a 32" LCD Samsung TV. You're alone in your problem.

I don't really understand what these two pictures you posted are supposed to show towards your problem. But I have a 32" samsung as well and have no problems whatsoever.

Could you explain the problem a little more? People all have different meanings for the word "lag." It sounds like you're describing a ghosting problem. Then the picture you reference makes me think you're saying that instead of smooth transitions between colors, it's an abrupt gradient. A little more description would be helpful.

Does this happen across all inputs and devices? Try getting a different HDMI cable or input if its only the PS3.

Thats all I can think of other than there being a problem with your TV in which case you should be on the phone with the manufacturer.

What is ghosting? Yes, it is an abrupt gradient, but only the grayscale.

Btw, the HDMI-cable I'm using is a very cheap one, (about 15 bucks), could that affect the grayscale?

Ghosting is a sort of pixel-lag. The response time is slow, so our eyes can see that the pixels take a little longer than they should to change. It kind of looks like colors (usually blacks and reds) are bleeding into others or like the image just isn't refreshing fast enough. It's noticeable in fast moving scenes and with high contrast colors. I don't know about your HDMI cable. HDMI carries a digital signal so if you are getting the signal, you're getting the full signal. That being said, if the metal is not very conductive, it could be a source of noise. You said that it looks like a gradient. A lot of games have this, particularly in the sky. I remember it in Fallout 3. It seems like they just don't bother to make smooth color transitions and use less colors.

Do you only notice this with multiplatform games?

Ok, it's not ghosting then.

Well, I have only noticed it in GTA4 and ACII, so only multi-plat I suppose.

Well it really shouldn't have anything to do with the fact that a game is multiplatform. Probably just those games in particular. Mess around with your contrast settings on your TV.
